Pretty cool looking though.

repost for sure.

It never caught on because that design did not work well in all snow conditions. If you notice in the video, the top layer of the snow is pretty firm and the snow itself is pretty dense. In light fluffy powder snow that machine sank out of sight. Enter Emmett Tucker who invented the ladder track design which gave birth to the Tucker Sno-Cat. I own one of these machines:

The ladder track design was later upgraded as rubber technology entered the scene. In the 70’s, the design was changed to rubber belts with steel “grousers” bolted to the rubber. This design is still used today on large grooming machines, with the Tucker Sno-Cat now using a solid revolving rubber belt.

you’ve got an old Tucker? that’s AWESOME!

2 of them actually…and a Thiokol 2100

looks like two giant ribbed dildos o.O

I lol’d when the horse was trying to go through the snow.
and the guy kept forcing it through, lol.
peta would loooove it.
