F*ck PayPal v. reserved funds

This happens a lot, that’s why Paypalsucks.com exists. Go read in their forums the horror stories. It’s obviously the only option on Ebay. No other site comes close to the amount of traffic Ebay pulls aside from Amazon Marketplace, and that is fixed price only.

I’m sorry to hear this Josh, I feel your pain.

Sounds like Paypal needed a loan so they took it.

I hate Paypal with a passion.

FUCK YOU PAYPAL!

I called paypal to review my account about getting the $25K reserve reduced and they told me that they have raised the reserve and will be holding onto $150,000.00!!!.

after bitching on the phone with the supervisor back and forth for 2hrs…i got it back down to $25K. So after 2hrs… at the end of the day i got nowhere with them.

FUCK! /rant.

On the up side…you at least have 25k for them to hold

Are all your transactions done through ebay? Is that the reason you are using paypal? If not you would benefit greatly from a regular merchant account. The fees are far less and no one is going to hold onto your money for a reserve of any kind.

do you get to make interest on the 25k that they hold?

No interest.

haha fucking paypal…

Time to setup your own 3rd party checkout service via your webpage

You cant even sell anything on ebay without paypal anymore. Even if you say the words “money order” in your description, they take the auction down.

Its ridiculous.

faggots

I think this is re dick.
Yeah guyz you can borrow my 25,000 without my permission and hold it for 6 months when I close out my account!
I <3 paypal

Do they have a table for this ? as in 1mill in sales = 150K held in reserve? or a percentage of sales?

Either way its ridiculous to have a 150K reserve… I’m sure your profit margin isn’t much over 15% if you are making 1 million in sales… Shit if you hit 500K sales… with 150K reserve I would shit myself and find another way. I couldn’t imagine having to cover a profit margin like that just to purchase more merchandise to sale…

Its good to hear you got it dropped to 25K though. it still sucks, but its better than 150K

Why can’t your bank hold the money in Escrow Atleast you are collecting interest. Changing the #from 25k to 150k back to 25k sound like they get a commision for holding extra. Just tell them you know some short sellers and if they piss you off again they will crush the stock on the open market for f’ing with you.

Didn’t want to start a new thread… BUT a heads up for everybody who hates paypal fees.

Apparently now you can send money to “Friends” and “Family” with NO FEES. Just a heads up if you’re doing any paypal transactions and avoid doing it because of the fees. Follow the same process you always have, just click on the appropriate buttons when choosing the type of goods/service.

ALSO as a follow-up, since i bumped this thread.

After several calls and months of waiting, i finally had my reserve dropped from $25K to $8K which is more appropriate. However, they also had rolling reserve which held onto 5% of every transaction in addition to the fixed reserve.

So last month PayPal gave me $55K back that they were holding onto and now only hold $8K.

The interest rate is .07% (ghey)

Woah nice. I’ll have to see how this works

Watch what you wish for. If you use PayPal and claim that you are sending money as a “gift” to avoid fees for a real transaction, when you get scammed and go to file a dispute with paypal they are going to laugh at you for trying to file a dispute over a gift.

Also heads up for those of you who are taking advantages of “5 free auctions fee per month” promotion scam!! they actually screw you by charging almost twice the final auction fees.

i’m thinking this would be used like when Onyx/Josh was distributing NYSpeed DVD’s or taking track day money… we had to add like 3.5% to the total to cover it. Now we don’t have to.

But yeah…auctions or whatever be the case. As a buyer… i wouldn’t care what fees the seller gets as a result or receiving money.

Paypal has charged me a fee the last few times I used it to send money because I use my credit card. Of course if I let them into my bank account they will wave the fee:cjerk:

^ or if you have money in your paypal account.
