If you don’t meet certain seller requirements which could be any of these-
"Why aren’t my funds available as soon as my buyers pay?
Here are the most common reasons why:
* You have a Below Standard seller rating on eBay
* You have a limited selling history on eBay, which means that any of the following are true:
1. It’s been 90 days or less since your first successful sale on eBay, or
2. You’ve made 25 or fewer sales transactions on eBay, or
3. You’ve sold $250 or less on eBay
* We believe there may be a high level of risk associated with your account or your transactions. This can include risk that your account will have a higher number of eBay Buyer Protection cases, PayPal disputes, PayPal claims, buyer chargebacks or other reversals"
Those cock suckers at Paypal can hold your funds for up to 21 days!!! Unreal. I’ve been selling items on ebay for years and I was a victim of this bogus new policy. TOTALLY gives the buyer a chance to fuck you BAD. Example-
You sell Joe Blow an amp
Your funds are held
He gets amp, blows it up
Disputes sale of item, claiming it came non-working
etc etc.
I used to sell lots on ebay; car parts, rc parts, transformers, legos, toys in general. Yeah I stopped like 5 years ago, when paypal started going down hill.
I sold a kid a spare Bosch fuel pump I had on audifans.com. He just so happened to live in canada which i have had terrible luck with. Kept asking to send as a gift but i refused its not worth the hassle to me. He pays via paypal which EGay owns. Not more then and hour later there’s a paypal dispute claiming the pump i sent him was used since it wasn’t in the original box which the buyer knew previously as I had posted a picture of it and that it was internally damaged. Paypal sided with buyer pending return. Buyer sent back 3lbs of stones in the box and gave him the funds back and basically told me to go fuck off.
I used to sell alot of shit on ebay when i was stripping cars and usually did ok.
I got totally fucked on a tailgate I bought for my brother’s old truck though. Paid for it, never got it and disputed it but the seller closed his ebay account and shut off his phone. Paypal didnt do a damn thing.
Another time my brother sold a screw gun to some jerkoff and claimed it arrived damaged and filed a dispute but wouldnt send it back and claimed he threw it out because it was broken. A collection agency used to call about that for about a year but they never got their money.
This policy is nothing new, it’s been in place for nearly 2 years. It’s a bunch of bullshit, too… they will hold your funds for NO REASON AT ALL if they feel like it too.
I have recently stopped selling on ebay because they have gotten ridiculous with their fees they charge. Since when do they need to charge me fees for what I charge for shipping. You charge what shipping costs and then they take a cut of that screwing you out of getting what the shipping cost you on top of paypal(ebay) getting another cut of the money the buyer sends you. I just sold something for $264 and ebay got $26 and paypal got another $10. totally wasn’t worth $30 to sell that item
Im on my cell phone so im not gonna get into detail but honestly paypal is RIGHT for doing what they do for new un established accounts… i understand complely how u guys see it but youve gotta look at the big picture… Wut if i made an account, listed 2 dozen 10 ounce bars of gold valued at $38000… everyone already paid me and i have the cash in my account… it takes time to ship so ive got about a week to clear aaalllll that cash out of my account before anyone asks where there shit is at… BAM, i just got a FREE 38k bc ebay decided to trust a non reputable seller.
This maybe they just made it public but thats been there policy as long as I’ve known.
It’s also not as easy as you think these days for someone whom you have sold an item like that to dispute it and get their money back. Always write As-Is and require insurance on an item to ship.
I sold a projector on ebay 2 years or so ago, worked great. Kid told me it worked fine for the first day but when he put it in his enclosure or something along those lines it kept shutting off every 20 minutes and tried to dispute it after I told him the first time he asked that it needs to be well ventilated otherwise it shuts itself down.
Have had friends recieve broken items off ebay and dispute it but unable to get anywhere with it. Has happend to me at work getting something i couldent find anywhere else.
They hold the money due to scammers, 90% of the time they release the funds as soon as the item is delivered which is why I always ship UPS as they update their tracking info quick. If you ship USPS even priority it may be days if ever they update it after its been delivered. I have never had money held for more then a day after item was confirmed as delivered.
Just got done dealing with a guy who filed 3 paypal claims against me over the course of a few days ($1800 transaction) because I didn’t answer his emails within a few hours. Seemed appropriate for this thread
I email them immediately once I got their message, I have 100% buyer and seller rating and was still put on their list.
It really have nothing to do with what your account status is, all that is just cooperate excuse to have a “reason” to put that 21 hold on everyone, so they don’t have to deal with money dispute and use those funds in case there is a problem.
I dont ever get money held on my account? I’ve gotten $12k paypaled and released to me immediately before shipping item out… I have close to 350 feedbacks though and 100% feedback.
I sold my Samsung Galaxy Tab (which everyone here was so upset about me charging $550 for - I got that and the guy was more than happy to pay it because it had an unlocked bootloader), my Canon 18-200 Lens, an XBox, etc. and I get the funds and transfer them out right away and they appear in my checking account 2 days later.
