this is my “backup” rally cross car. basically, i had this around waiting to roll my other car. yet i got a 1 audi/2 vw/1 porsche/3 hondas/1 bmw/1 benz/1 acura in my name right now. im cleaning up and ditching some cars. i wittling down to my ur quattro, my cabby, the z3, the 911, drive-in benz and my rally civic.
the car has 260k miles on it. it is a 95 civic ex 5spd w/ working a/c and crusie. car was owned by a news reporter friend. so most miles are highway-- the hood shows this w/ the rock chips.
the car is overall decent shape. body id say is better paint and straighter body panel wise than my daily driver/current rally cross car. however, the 1/4’s are more crunchy on this one. mechanically, no grinds in the tranny, engine does not go through oil. car is 100% stock except the headlights, interior is clean and not abused pig-pen’d out. i dont feel like swapping my parts onto this chassis nor do i feel like robbing the doors/right fender, both bumpers to put on my car. As im contempt with not having a straight body panel on my daily driver. Lord knows i have brushed against how many guardrails or animals in it… It is easier for me to just keep fixing whatever i break or wears out.
what i know the back-up needs to be rally cross ready, and aprox cost to fix
1)both front lower control arms need bushings. so buy used ones for 35 a side.-- 70 total
2)the passenger’s fender needs replaced, as previous owner hit something. used go from 10 to 75 bucks, new aftermarket in black is like 45-50 bucks. if all you are doing is rally-x, you are ok. yet it is not going to pass inspection.
3)tires. winter recaps for rally are 25 a piece-- buy 5 so you have spare ready. $125 or if you want to daily drive it–will need something else unless you have a short commute b/c driving recap winter treads sucks long distance.
4)possibly brakes–car has been sitting since mid summer. they may clean up. I would think 1 rally cross on them or some hard braking should clean them up. if they dont, i have another set of rotors ill give you.

if you are making it street legal–glue/weld on 1/4 skins or bondo them up. 1/4 skin repair panel is 53 bucks a side.

im unsure of when timing belt and water pump was done. i have not done it. figure 100 for parts.
ideal situation for me is to trade for garage equipment. i really want to stock my house garage with equipment so i can do small shit to my cars or use it as a back up place to work for when other places are too busy. as i keep my cabby in the garage i rent, my audi at work, and rest of the fleet is spread across my house or family garages.
I have been watching craigslist and have been noticing prices. so i put them beside the equipment i want. i’d like to get a combination of some or all of the following- heavy duty bench vice (50), bench grinder (25), floor model drill press (250), bearing press (200), air compressor (400) for my home garage. i figure i can pick all of that up used on craigslist for roughly 1k give or take.
So 1k would be the cash price for my car. i really dont want money–rather have the equipment. yet money means i can go buy the shit i want. i will probably list this on craigslist for 1200 knowing i will get beat down some.
Im also willing to help who ever buys the car fix it if they plan on rally cross racing. basically, pay for parts and ill help you with labor. Car i figure needs 400 bucks at most plus labor put into it and it would be a dependable daily driver/rally beater.
