Finally going to do it, me thinks...

250 FTL.

Was positive this thread was about having sex.

Getting laid? Yea i didn’t read any post lol

What about one of these http://shift518.com/showthread.php?t=33828

Eh. Power wise? Sure, perfect for me lol. But looks wise? No way. I think that looks like the old Ninja which I think is fugly. That’s why I like the new Ninja 250’s. It looks like an actual super sport but has a percentage of the power. In a perfect world, I’d be getting on an R6. That, to me, is the sexiest bike. But, I don’t trust myself with the power…I might not push the envelope right away, but if I got on an R6…eventually…I would go for all that thing has.

Just printed out the permit form.

R6 also comes with unusable power without risking your license every time you’re in the power band, wrist pains, painfully slow to 40mph, uncomfortable for passengers, high insurance costs, limited to short distance rides and higher operating costs.

But yes, “it looks pretty”. So worth it.

Outstanding track bike however.

x2

Awsome idea Ilya! Def get a bike bro, they are awsome , you’ll love it.

If you are set on a lower cc bike, like many said, do look into the 300 but will be hard to find used as the bike is pretty new. Don’t forget to factor riding gear into your budget.

Enjoy.

if you dont trust yourself with power and the ability to have self control, you dont belong on any sized bike IMO. Not a 1000cc, 600cc, 300cc.

My first bike ever was a brand new 08 R6 and i was 19 years old… i decided i wanted a bike, went to phibbs bought said bike, went to dmv got my permit, and picked up the bike that afternoon with a friend and drove it home. a week later i ordered a power commander 3, graves full header back exhaust, re geared it, new air filter and a bunch of other shit. i never crashed or killed myself or anyone else… i also didnt get in like any trouble, pulled over once i believe but that was because he couldnt see my plate. nothing wrong with starting on an R6 if you can act like an adult, respect your machine, and have self control.

He can start on an R1 for all it matters, it still won’t make it a good city bike. Unless he’s planning on just having a toy to take out on weekends in the Adirondacks or go to any local tracks he doesn’t need or want a super sport as a commuter/around town bike.

When you’re only peppy from 45mph+ and you can only legally experience the power band pull in 1st gear it doesn’t make much sense.

None of my friends on sport bikes ever want to go anywhere far, not even NYC, they barely put any miles a year on them, they have just as much fun on weekends as I do, they never take them to the track and they all sell them after a year or two. Seen it over and over and over again over the last ~8 years.

You can have more fun on a 300 and be a better rider then many people on supersports. Like I’ve said before some of the most fun I ever had riding is on my 38hp motard and my old ass Ninja 250. Go anywhere, rip through the gears without fear or losing your license, throw them into turns and have very little money invested into them.

everyones different, id ride it to work every day it wasnt raining, sometimes even in the rain, and i would ride as much as possible when not at work.

no thanks on the 300 though, but to each his own.

if he wants something to cruise, buy a cruiser.

You don’t have to have a cruiser and sacrifice turning in order to gain street ability.

You’re going from one extreme to another while there is an entire market of bikes in between that are comfortable and street able yet still go like a bat out of hell they just weren’t designed around a track.

Ever hear of a sport tourer? Bikes like Z1000 that would eat an R6 for lunch yet you could ride to Florida.

Since when does a cruiser sacrifice turn-ability? Sorry Vlad I disagree 100% with you there. I started on crotch rockets and ride cruisers now and to be honest I think its easier to take turns on a cruiser, no lie. Yes you cant take turns as fast on a cruiser but he isn’t looking to track a bike.

MY first real motorcycle was the R6, Had a shitty 70’s honda dirt bike before that, also spent some time on a ninja 250 before the R6… Really wish I had one. That bike was FUN I don’t care what anyone says and it turns SOOO easy. You can quick flick the fuck out of a 250.:lol
The R6 will turn, but not as easy as a 250 so cornering is a bit more fun on the little bike IMO. Wear as the R6 is a monster waiting to bite you if you make a mistake.

I also have a heavy modded R6 & I’ve never gotten in trouble with it, been lucky I guess I live for twist… the rest of the ride is meh on the street.
Track is the only way to go now.

Unusable power without risking your license: True

Wrist pain: Only happens if you hold the throttle wrong or too tight IMO, but yes it can be uncomfortable if you go about it wrong. Changing out the stock grips for Renthal or Driven skullys, ourys are good too. That would help a great deal with pain.

Painfully slow to 40mph: Not if you add a few mods:number1
uncomfortable for passengers: true this is not a bike for two up, it’s a street legal race bike.

Insurance cost: true, I am currently being raped :lol

I’ve had my R6 for 3 years:'( I’ll admit the BMW S1000RR looks better to me everyday.

your logic makes soooooo much sense :ponder

ive never heard of anyone starting off on a 250 until i joined shift. you seem way more responsible than 99% of the guys i know who started off on 600s or 1000’s.

me personally, id rather just buy a bicycle than a 250.

Rag on 250s all you want breh, but they’re honestly awesome. Just for the mileage and how light they are.

I’m sticking to a 250 or may 300 people. I’m not getting a 600 or anything of that sort. Just not happening. We can drop that subject/topic lol.

Anyone know how much I’m looking to pay in fees when I go to DMV to take my written test? It says on their site that it depends on where you apply…anyone remember what they paid? Just wondering if I should bring $50 with me or $250. :lol

A 250 sportbike is like a V6 Camaro. They look “cool” but are actually very, very gay.
