I have a high output alternator for a Ford mustang/truck/car 5.0 but I’m not sure about the output of it. How can I tell what the output actually is?
look up the model number or test it
Very generally speaking most ‘standard’ alternators are in the range of 90-110 amps. High outputs get up towards around 130. Aftermarket HO’s can run up to about 150 or so. Like 02 said take the part number and Gooogle it and see if that works to see what it is supposed to be. Or hook up with a Mustang forum and ask there.
whats it out of? taurus?
tauruses had ho alternators rated at 90 120 130 and 150 i think
google + part number.
or, if you know what model & engine OEM, you can look up a replacement part for that application on any number of parts sites.
much higher than that. Ask the system guys how high they go. I know TBSS guys are swapping to 240. but as nick said google it. if that leads to nothign post part number and i’ll do my best to find out
