Anyone have a definite answer other than “I’ve done it and been fine”?
I know if its a on a street you need to allow some space on both sides (i think 8 feet) but if its on a corner, can you park closer?
I attached a picture with my street info.

just park there, if theres a fire they will just bust the shit out of your car to get to the hydrant.
Like there is the connections on the top and left side of the hydrant which is accessible if need be. I dont see why this would be illegal unless there is some BS law that says how far you must be. Similar to how you technically can get a ticket for not being close enough to a curb when parking.
you can’t park:
“Within 15 feet (5 m) of a fire hydrant, unless a licensed driver remains in the vehicle to move it in an emergency.”
Wow I had no idea about some of those.
Its weird with the:
- Within 20 feet (6 m) of a crosswalk at an intersection.
- Within 30 feet (10 m) of a traffic light, STOP sign or YIELD sign.
In my drawing, the street at the botton coming to the T has a bend about 100 feet before the T. The right side says no parking from the bend to the stop sign but the left side has signs saying you can park up to the stop sign.
Intresting.
you cannot park with in a 15 foot radius of the fire hydrant, a cop WILL give you a ticket no matter what, and it’s usually pretty pricy
ugh yeah I wanna call someone to ticket people in my neighborhood all the time. Especially this one guy that parks his big ass dually pickup truck in the intersection, making it impossible for more than one car to pass at a time
With good reason
is there a outlet on the hydrant facing your car? If so stay away from it. those hoses don’t like to bend much under pressure.
yes, Its a pain in the ass actually, when you got a 4 or 6 inch supply line, the hose dosent flex like a garden hose and just flow.
yea we use a 6 inch in west seneca, you deff dont get more than a 20degree bend on it… HAHA Boxxa its people like u that make my life harder JK man
also dont park more than 12 inches away from the curb
I came out of Buffalo General recently after visiting my dad to find a $35 ticket on my windshield, my car may have been 13 inches away
Bastards
That picture looks familiar.
Is that Humboldt & Glendale?
Shit, with you, might want to stay at least a 1/4 mile away just in case. lol
I got a ticket for the fire hydrant thing over winter, it was $35 not bank breaking by any means. I got out a tape measure and walked my car and it was 14 feet, stupid me had enough room to close in on the car ahead of me to make it a good 15.
Pretty soon i’m just going to hire a driver to drive me around.
Paulo- remember hamburg high? All the juniors would park on North street, and EVERYDAY I would see hamburgs finest take a drive down North street and write a ticket to the dumb ass who parked infront/close to the hydrant. Literally EVERYDAY, people could not get it through their heads.
lol i was thinking of the same exact pic
Saw this exact thing in person when I was little.
Not only that but also watched a firetruck slam a car and move it out of the way that way.
that must have been awesome! I bet the fire company sends the repair bill to the car owner as well.
