Currently I have a Napolean GDS50…

On the info I have, it lists it as 76% AFUE max efficiency
Is switching over to a vent free set up actually possible? I do realize they say they are not ideal for whole house heating… but if I am preventing 1/4 of my money from floating out the chimney…
I am also running Propane as NG isn’t available in my area. So I pay a bit more per btu than NG.
I’m thinking of something along the lines of this…

Or any similar item HD/Lowes sells.
The home is 792sq/ft.
I do understand vent free heating will produce more moisture in the air, which since it’s typically very dry in the winter I don’t think that will be too much of a problem. Although I’m not totally sure how often the vent free will be on as you have to light most manually from what I’ve seen.
Is this a terribly shitty idea? Or is there just not enough oxygen available in a typical home?
I know it’s horribly, horribly insulated (4" of insul in teh attic with none in walls/floor) with leaks everywhere. Their bills last year were around $150-170/mo with the napolean heater.
I’ve gutted the kitchen/bath this year and got everything insulated there with new windows and such, so that will help some…
But yes yes… back to teh topic!
Vent free as a main heating source? Or is that just stupid.
