I am looking to buy a heater of some kind to heat a poorly insulated two car garage. i have a propane blast heater which does the job nicely but i would really like to find something that doesn’t throw fumes. suggestions? looking to spend under 800 if i can
wood stove ,find one on c/l go to tractor supply by exh ducting and be done exc heat on the cheap
this is what i would like to do… however this idea didn’t go over that well with the owner.
waste oil furnace?
I dont know what one costs though.
yeah they are not cheap.
propane convection heater, been using mine since last year, works great havent had an issue with fumes…
and its cheap ~100 bucks if not cheaper
i think this is what i already have… mine looks like a tin trash can that has a huge burner in it and sound like a hot air balloon taking off…
haha yea thats what im using… honestly I love it… ehats my garage good, was 70 bucks and havent had an issue with fumes
that looks like what i had in mind when i started this thread… even though i am really wanting to push the wood stove idea again.
what is this heater? price?
also interested in this type of setup. Or if anyone has an old gas / propane furnace laying around they want to get rid of i could kill 2 birds and heat the loft.
My grandparents are getting a new furnace and air conditioner on Monday for no reason at all. :lol
what are they doing with their old one?
OP we use the same type of heater you do in our garage with little to no fumes at all. First off we start the heater with the garage door open and the burner side nearly outside, after the initial start up and puff from the heater, turn it around and close the garage door. This makes it much nicer and let it sit for 20 mins and return outside to start working. Works for me.
not sure i followed this… the heater i have is a vertical propane heater… it is not directional
AH good luck then, lmao.
get the wood stove and direct exhaust out a window instead of thru a wall or roof…maybe owner will go for that?
yeah that was what i proposed … we’ll see.
wood stove is without a doubt the way to go…just installed one at my buddys shop, its very easy and someone with little knowledge can do so. If your shop owner goes for it, let me know if you need a hand. Also on the insulation note, if you would like to change that, blown in insulation is fairly cheap and i have a hookup with a company that does it. Obviously its not as good as fiberglass on every nook and cranny but the stuff does work quite well, and installation is minimally intrusive.
