I didn’t read this whole thread… but my first bike is a 250… I just got it in January. Let me tell you, I haven’t dropped it yet, but if I had gotten even the 500? I would have dropped it at LEAST 20 times already… the 250 is light enough that I can salvage any type of “dropping” situation I put myself into, and it’s perfect to learn on because it’s so small and light.
I’m also 145 pounds myself though, with little or no muscle… If I was stronger and/or bigger, then maybe the 500 would have been a better choice.
wont help with state farm either, but if you have a smaller cc bike (750 or less) and you have acar with state farm you probably wont find cheaper insurance anywhere
evidently you do have some muscle, because you had a pretty bad close to dropping incident which you saved in the figure 8 box.
As for the insurance most places give you 10%. With Dairyland insurance I get 10% for the Basic Safty, 10% for the Advance rider, and another 5% or 10% if I would become an instructor.
Yeah your best bet to register is online. Get an account pre set up so all you have to do is sit in front of the computer at 7:50 log in and wait for it to open at 8. Just keep refreashing your screen until the registration link comes up.
When you log in go all the way to the actual registration page and wait there. As you refresh the page once it hits 8am all the sudden there will be a red link to register next to your class you want and how many spots and what type of spots are availible. Whether it be A guarenteed spot or Alternative Spot.
2 friends work at the base neither has taken the safty course both of stickers to get on base on there bikes… i dont know who you heard this from but evidently its incorrect information…
if u get a 250r ur gona be pis in two days try to find something that if u lay it down u wont be pissed dont be like my boy and 15,000 and cant ride ur bike ur gona wana do wheelies and endo right ur gona go down have fun and dont kill ur self if u want to lok at my bike give me a message its never down and it would be a perfect statrter bike
I figured i might as well just bump this thread instead of whoring a new one.
Some good info in here, but i have more questions.
I’m seriously looking into getting a 1st bike and am mostly conserned about the size of the bikes and how you fit on them. I’d like a sport bike, but could deal with something less sporty for a more comfortable ride.
I’m like 5’10", 220lb. I’ve got short legs/arms (30 pant inseam) and i know im going to have problems being comfortable on certain bikes. I’m not going to mind a bigger bike, b/c I should be strong enough to man handle it around.
also, what I REALLY liked is the buell that has 2 little headlights on it? They look pretty small and fairly bad ass. Any one know what im talkin about? I’ll try to find some pics in a bit here.
…so any recommendations would be great. I’d like to also here what people think of certain bikes, how they rode, etc. I’d go down to Gatto’s in Tarentum, but i feel WAY too noob’ish to be talkin to them guys. I’d like to at least get a little knowledge under my belt first. Thanks!
