so after seeing a couple posts on Zilvia, I decided to flock up my interior door panels as well as rears.
The kind I bought was called DonJer. Got some shipped up from their spot in Winnebago, IL. I bought the Nylon Suede-Tex Fibers because they’re apparently “durable, water and fade resistant”. I have high hopes that it will turn out looking real nice.
When it dries and I knock off the excess, it should look and feel much like suede.
I was thinking of doing this to my cut up s13 dash (weight loss its 8lbs, i can propably cut down to like 4lbs or something will see)… Cut it up further and remove the foam/vynl… and then perfect surface and flock. Properly flocked dashes look awesome. Just have to make sure the surface is prepped/smooth perfectly otherwise imperfections will show through.
I like this, it’s a nice solution to my problem, I was going to attempt a wrap on my dash to get the same effect, I wasn’t even considering flocking it. Thanks man! Can’t wait to see your finished product.
Results are in and I must say I am very pleased. Only thing I would watch for when doing the door panels is make sure you put enough adhesive in the cracks around the middle to allow the fibers to stick.
it’s quite strong and doesn’t rub off by just touching/rubbing it. It appears to be quite durable. As for softness, it’s not quite as soft as real suede but it looks and almost feels like it. Once I do my front panels and get it all back in the car I’ll be sure to update with how it all looks.
