STi to be Paul Walker’s car

It was no surprise when the producers of The Fast and the Furious hinted that another sequel would see the big screen. Even the fact that Vin Diesel would reprise his role as Dom Toretto wasn’t such a shocker, either. But things really started getting interesting when Hollywood bloggers began reporting that Pauler Walker (Brian O’Connor) would return, too.
Diesel and Walker have come to grips that they’re sorta like the Sonny and Cher of action films, one’s not really that great without the other. Now, Jordana Brewster (Mia Toretto), Michelle Rodriguez (Letty) as well as Sung Kang (Han) are also listed as part of the cast. According to Hollywood trades, Justin Lin and Chris Morgan are back as director and writer. Follow the jump to read more and see our exclusive photos of the movie’s real “stars”.
The producers learned with Tokyo Drift, it’s not the characters alone that made the movie a success; the cars and the driving are what had audiences wanting to learn how to slide. The Stangpede may have been the first vehicle confirmed for the movie, but we’ve learned that Fast and the Furious 4 will feature both domestic muscle and import vehicles side-by-side yet again, which seems like a departure from Tokyo Drift.
Based on the current script, begins five years after the events that transpired in the first movie, but before Tokyo Drift. The location for this sequel is written as Mexico. Here Dom and Han meet for the first time and the latter teaches the street racer all about drifting (cue Rhys Millen and friends).
Thanks to an unnamed source, we’ve been able to not only determine the actual lead vehicle for the film, but also sneak a few photos of the lead vehicle in-progress. We have it on good authority that a very special STi is making this video as well. It is the lead vehicle and, again, Veilside has been selected by the director and producers to add some serious aftermarket flare to the movie. We’ve been told that Veilside president, Yokomaku Hiranao has personally flown in from Japan to build the kit from scratch just for the film. Typically kits are designed at homebase, in Japan, but Veilside feels that this kit and vehicle need special treatment.
Other vehicles confirmed for the film are the Bentley Continental GT Convertible (pictured) and a small army of musclecars (also pictured). From what we’ve been told the producers have gone through multiple vehicle casting calls and are still desperately trying to find a way to work the 2009 Nissan GT-R into the mix.
