Focusinprogress' XS650 BOBBER build.

just measure it and go on summitracing… they have everything you need and way cheaper than ferry.

Are those rod ends plastic?

I’m surprised it took 3 biz days to get mcmaster stuff… I always get it next day if I order by 4.

I need something equal to part number BQ62 from here: http://www.brakequip.com/fitting8.html

Going to use NiCopp hardline with flared ends…need a pair of female thread banjo adaptors like BQ62 to connect each end, one to master cyl and one to caliper

Just went through all 26 pages of banjo fittings on summit, every single one is -AN male.

 progress.

Interested in how you bent your exhaust down. Just got on it a bit with some elbow grease? With my exhaust setup on the cb, my rearsets and linkages may get in the way, but i’m not sure yet how tight it’ll be.

I stood on it and bounced up and down until it was parallel with the frame lol. I heard some crackling noises, was probably stressing the copper crush gaskets(I’ll probably order replacements just to be safe) and the slip joints.

Thats kinda what I am afraid of, but I only really need to come down about an inch or so on the headers so that I can clear the rearsets when the brakes are engaged or when I am shifting.

yeah, all I got out of it was about an inch to inch and a half lol. I gave it a shot while mounted, but my backup plan was to remove and put the header pipes in the vice and insert a pipe into one end to bend them that way…

Can’t you use that tubing with a regular AN flare and tube nut? I used all single AN flare on my SS hard brake lines I did on the BMW.

Thats a good idea, i’ve got a nice long pipe to use. HEYOOO

Well i’d start by throwing some heat at it lol.

Heat, vice, long rod. I’m in.

sounds like the making of a porno

I don’t know…can I? I measured a few things on lunchbreak…

-I need 5’ of line to be safe (probably need just a touch over 4’)
-Banjo bolts are m10x1.25

I had it in mind that I’d just go to advance auto parts and buy a 5’ NiCopp hardline off the shelf and then grab a pair of those BQ62’s or equivalent…which is why I thought Ferry…figured I could get equivalent fittings and a 5’ line all in one stop.

is an AN flare different from a regular brakeline flare? I have a regular flare tool, but not a -AN flare tool…

as long as it’s not a bubble flare you’ll be fine. The line is so soft, it deforms. I would use an tube and tube nuts dude.

Impressive work.

Does AN line come in NiCopp? I have to admit, a big part of the reasoning for going with hardline is that NiCopp is copper-y in color…and I think it would look great and tie in with the other bits of copper I’ll have kicking around on the bike. I plan to sleeve by forward control pegs with copper tubing too.

Thanks Joe!

what are the dims of the tubing you want to use?

AN -3 tube is 3/16 od.

well, I don’t know much about -AN stuff…but looks like most of the banjo adaptors are -3AN…so what ever tubing will connect to that…was probably going to use regular 3/8 or 7/16 NiCopp line (for cars) if not going -AN for whatever that’s worth…

Some of them are -4, but i would use -3 tube. 3/16 OD x whatever wall. That’s what I used on the honda. Just bring a set of calipers to the auto parts store and measure the OD and buy a piece that’s 3/16.

then just buy two banjo adapters in -3AN, and two tubing nuts for -3AN? then cut one end off the tubing from the auto parts store, swap the nuts for the -3AN ones, and re-flare the cut end?
