Up for sale is a late build** 1991 Coupe Quattro, red on gray platinum interior, 235k. Its been owned and maintained by Audi mechanics and enthusiasts for the last 11 years, I have thousands in receipts from years of servicing. I purchased the coupe in 2010 from my friend who parked it in 2008, to start driving a B5 A4. The coupe sat inside in his heated garage waiting for me to take over ownership. When I took over ownership in 2010, I did a full overhaul to make sure the coupe would be just as reliable as it had been in the past. Here’s a list of what work has been completely since I took ownership:
Note: The car was fully functional and running when I purchased it. I chose to re-do the head because of a little smoke when high revving during autocrossing. The valve train was tired and worn out, so I replaced everything.
- Rebuilt cylinder head (resurface, pressure test, valve job, new valve guides and seals, new lifters), with all fresh gaskets and seals. When the head was off, the lower end was inspected. Not a single scratch, nick or ridge in any cylinder walls. The factory cross hatching on the cylinder walls looked a fresh as day 1.
The car is overall is in great shape and mostly all original. The entire drivetrain is original minus one rear outer CV boot. The list of repairs over the last 10 years is long, but most all major components known for failing (I.E. starter, alternator, PS pump) have been replaced or upgraded. The interior is in amazing shape for its age, I would rate the interior a 9 out of 10. The seats are in great shape with no rips, fading or sagging of any kind. The headliner is beginning to sag in a few spots. All the electronics in the interior (windows, wipers, seats, climate, defrost) all work properly. A few of the switch backlighting bulbs have burnt out, other then that the interior is original and mint.
The exterior is 7.5-8 out of 10. The car does have 230k+ miles and so it has a handful of nicks and scratches from years of driving but overall there is no majors scratches or dents. No body work, all original paint minus the mirrors. They were resprayed due to sun fading. The passenger lower door moulding is off, I do have it and will put it on before the sale.
Overall this is a great car and it needs to go to a good home. This is the car that started my life as a gear head, Audi enthusiast and professional Audi mechanic, so it means alot to me, but I no longer have enough room in the driveway to keep it. This car needs to go to someone who knows and loves Audi, and will keep it in top shape.
