1st off good luck being able to find one on the drop of a dime… once lots get the TBSS they are sold within 2-3 days…
2nd this thread was to share something very cool that was accomplished by a TBSS and was for people who acctually respect it… hence the title of the thread…
There are only 3 TBSS’s (all RWD) in the world running in the 8-9 sec range…
Collectors item is in the eye of the beholder yes the R34 is def sweet and is a collectors but to many people the TBSS is also a collectors as was the typhoon and so on and so on… Some of the TBSS’s are very respectable and the fact they are no longer being made and were only made for 3.5 model years they are also considered a collectors to a select crowd…
There are acctually thousands of people who own the TBSS who put thousands and thousands of dollars into them… try doing your HW… Their are grandparents and soccer moms who own them and have no idea what they are but there are more that own them and do significant mods to them…
I do respect the truck and what it can do, I never once said I didn’t. I just said that $97k for that is a bit steep. The truck’s value has only gone up (not gone up, but more or less held steady) since they were discontinued. When they were sitll producing them, previous years’ values were still dropping, but still not as bad as most other domestics.
To the right market, yes. Just as the rarity of the R34 in the U.S. makes it worth more money…
…How many Porches have the turbo setup you have? Wouldn’t you ask more money if you were selling your car because of what you have done?
I agree that $97K may be steep for what was actually put into the vehicle, but they are entitled to trying to make money off of something they accomplished that only select few have.
I simply pointed out the “used car” thing because I didn’t think it was valid reasoning…
Easy, killer. My R34 is registered, and insured. Legally. Just not inspected. My insurance card says 2000 Nissan Skyline… My registration also says a Nissan Skyline. Thanks though. I wasn’t the one who even brought up the GTR. So pipe down over there.
I never once degraded her TBSS or any TBSS, I just said that almost $100k for one is a bit steep.
I wasn’t talking about you with the whole part about respect… was referred towards people who just came in to argue…
The trucks value has gone up significantly from pre-discontinuing them… 97k isn’t steep at all when you figure what the resale is for it stock then put in the money that was spent building it and the bragging rights of being the fastest one out there… Price tag is damn good in fact…
You brought up the R34, a car which usually fetches in the $110-120k range for a fully federalized version, then act like my $68k R34 is overpriced.
I do agree somewhat. Some cars just hold their values better than others. I’m looking at a used R8 V10 if I sell the GTR and 911, and they’re in the 150 range used.
See posts 78 and 80. If you don’t agree with it, not much I can do. Again, I see no reason for anyone to get their panties all wadded up over this. I wasn’t calling out your price.
Skyline = Nice car worth money
8 second TBSS = Nice car worth money
Neither should be effected by the fact that it is a used car. If they are not made anymore, it’s not like you could go pick them up at the dealer to drop their price…
…even if they were still made, they don’t come in their current condition brand-new.
LOL, talk about a car that appreciates in value. 993TT’s are loot. More than msot 996TT’s.
Don’t even get me started on 993 GT2’s. Luckily there’s still a horse in the Porsche crest lol.
