Serial over PPP works wonders for dialing in.
finally got it working last night to get the latest software download.

all i did was set my router to have tivo take 2 ip addys, and made myself a serial cable
ah i though you were just using voice over ip. there’s a service called “skype” and “skype out” where you can call out on a phone line through your cable connection.
