I just spoke to Turk, one of the owners of the Flashlight Drags. The Flashlight Drags are NOT canceled for the 2009 season. The schedule will be published as soon as all of the agreements are worked out with the airports for leasing. The suit against the FAA has been a concern but is not expected to be an issue that stops the events.

I sent an e-mail to Mike and here was his response…
We will be racing in 2009, just not at the airports that we are used to. However, there is a slim chance that we will be able to race in Zelie, Waynesburg, Ebensburg and Waynesburg. The FAA and PennDot is making it difficult for anyone to use an airport for anything that does not fly, not counting your Z. Please stay tuned. I have a few deals in the works with small drag strips and we will run the Flashlight Drags just like in the past.

Ugh… I certainly hope this works out… The flashlight drags are a highlight of my summer, much more fun then running TnT at prp every week, and my new setup on the car has been tailored with the FLD’s in mind… 
I spoke to Turk again this weekend. He’s still confident that the FLD’s will occur this summer and even disclosed a few new locations that are either already under agreement or will be shortly. I’m wrenching in this freezing weather with the same thing in mind as sk360. The FLD’s really do make Summer a blast…
I kinda thought Steel Valley Dragway might be one of them… but I don’t think that would work out too well, when Steel Valley runs TnT’s on Friday nights for a few hours, for $10… lol
Hopefully something comes of this… And hopefully its not at a drag strip, kinda takes away the atmosphere
