They should put pink hearts on their cars to denote how much they care about their customers.
Well, my dad received a letter from Ford last year stating how his car is a POS and the front springs may break (Focus). It didn’t say you have to have them replaced right now (I’m guessing they just replace them with the same poor quality springs they had on from the factory) but only when it breaks.
Now what is the problem with this? Hm? Could this be a bit dangerous. OH NO not at all! So needless to say my parents won’t be purchasing Ford products anymore. I mean, most companies actually fix recall work when the car is in for other types of service, but Ford wishes their customers die before they have to fix their crap. Thanks, Henry.
me: it says in my manual to use 87 octane fuel, but this truck has a high compression ratio…shouldnt I be using a higher octane fuel? I get quite a bit of knocking on 87 (playing stupid to see what they say)
ford tech: well…yea I suppose…it says in the manual that it may knock on occassion (which it did).
me: ok, can I bring it in…its still under warantee, I’de like you to take a look at it and make sure no damage has been done.
ford tech: well…yea…I can do that
me: also, I have a recall, can you do that as well?
ford tech: I CAN GIVE IT WINGS IF YA WANT…SHEESH
me: alright, nevermind…:click:
Springs break/crack all the time in cars, does this mean its going to explode into flames and kill all the passengers? If the car is anywhere near new I bet its covered under warrenty
Which is completely stupid when it’s something that could cause an accident. Chrysler no sooner sends out a recall notice and the dealer calls up saying they would like to schedule the car to have it fixed. And they’d usually throw in an oil change.
I hear what your saying… but obviously if it was entitled to a recall, a recall would have been issued. This is not a recalled item, so they aparently are looking out for you, in a way that they don’t have to.
True. Its not likely to cause an accident. I have broken springs before and didnt even know until I heard a rattle.
Obviously you didn’t read the entire post. The springs were recalled because Ford doesn’t know what they are doing.
Yes they break, but they were a known problem for breaking before they should. :smash2:
This doesn’t make much sense. Recalls happen all the time because something goes wrong. Companies don’t know that something is going wrong until it actually does. Ford found that the springs were apt to breaking prematurely (really a spring should never break, so we should say break period) and are now informing customers of that.
Are you sure that Ford won’t replace them right now prior to breaking?? From the sound of it, you are making assumptions based on the fact that there was no action statement in the letter.
Either way. Ford should fix this. Even if it isn’t a big safety issue.
:word:
I need to start bitching at toyota because all 4 springs the the Tercelica shattered near the top. Granted it drives just fine, just an inch lower.
Dayom… took you awhile to get that letter… My letter arrived at the begining of the summer… Dont forget to ask about the Rear door Recall too… They will be replacing your door pins as they like to break and have your door open wherever you are whatever you are doing…
The recall is for the dealer to look at the springs, and see if the corrosion is enough to warant replacement… if it does warrant replacement than they will do so.
Actually, you’re right. But it still doesn’t mean they don’t make shitty ass cars, and deserve to go out of business.
I’m mean. Maybe they just need to make cars that last, or parts that last. Hm? Even people I know with Saturns haven’t had this many problems, and they still have stock springs! tear
I received that letter as well i have an 01 ZX3 and it says the dealer will inspect the springs and replace if neccesary. I states it is a corrosion issue with the springs, which im sure are outsourced to a parts manufacturer, just like any part in any car. The cheapest bid on a group of parts is the parts manufacturer the company will go with. As for the Rear tire wear issue the focus has from Non adjustable rear Toe that is another issue.
what year is the focus, i never got a letter for mine but then again i no longer have stock springs. Geez, i haven’t had any problems with mine either. even though my car is slow i gotta say the car has been more then reliable.
