You know I love you Joe so don’t take this at all the wrong way because much of what you wrote I whole heartedly agree with.
But let me just toss this out there…All of the Older members on here that were prime players in UBRF that are now in their late 20’s/early 30’s have an entire new responsibility in the world with a ton of other things to focus on than cars.
That said, the next generation that is in their teens/early 20’s is sort of the video game/generally useless generation that just doesnt carry the same passion that “we” once did.
Subsequently the older formerly more passionate members just arent quite as passionate on a day to day basis and that is what makes the meets and events such a positive. People arrange their schedule to make sure they make those great excursions and the day to day on the forum is lost to the younger crowd.
I like this guy.
Why don’t more peolpe listen to him?
I liked this forum because people were constantly active on it when I first joined, now its who has the biggest e-dick.
I wish I was on here back in 2005, and I also wish I was on UBRF way back when it first started to be part of this, but now it doesn’t even seem worth it to visit this site anymore.
I know myself and a few others who are in our teens and extremely passionate about cars, even so much that we’d like to pursue it for a living like a few other members do/have done. I have basically drown my life in cars so much that I don’t have many friends outside of automotive things anymore.
Although I do agree with the even newer people than myself that just want to magically have a fast car appear in their driveway and the keys in their pockets.
Completely logical. Very seldomly does the original subject get maintained, which I guess can be unfortunate but, as the topic drifts you get the notice more about a person and what interests them and what they believe in, than just a response to the original post.
It does seem awfully robotic to just stay on topic. If everyone just wanted an answer to their question do you think there would be alternatives or I don’t know the context of the original subject really can change how someone would drift away from the original post.
Like now, was intended to discuss out with the old in with the new, and it turns into a huge status of this forum thread.
Meh, I don’t know I like the entertainment that comes out with large changes.
Spot on Kyle, I totally agree with you. I’m not quite in the late 20’s crowd yet, but I did pretty much get in the scene at a much younger age with you guys. A lot of what I wrote is maybe just to open a few people’s eyes? Will it work? Maybe, maybe not, but I had a minute at work here to type out an eloquent thought, so I said what the hell.
Either way, I totally dig what you’re saying. I mean, I too am in the working world (for nearly 2 years now), I bought a house, I have 4 cars, and a wealth of other responsibilities to handle. This place is nice for me though, it keeps me in the scene when things are busy, and I just don’t like always come here to a bunch of crap.
Righto…but the fact that it has turned into a drama filled off topic heaven has probably pushed some of the fence sitting enthusiasts off the board and that is unfortunate.
I beg to differ there 2turboz, there are plenety of us “next generation” people that are passionate about car more then video games. Now that being said i have about the same passion for both, but i would drop my video game controller in a second if there was a race that i could go to or play video games all day. so i am just saying that the next generation is not all lost, and there is still hope.
I think a large part of the trouble with the younger people is that your grammar and spelling generally drives the elders insane…just like this amazing ability to do something as simple as quote.
I am positive most of you like cars or enjoy motorsports but that doesnt give you promise for being good forum contributors. What is lost on alot of the “noobs” is that this forum is sort of an “old boys club” where alot of us know each other in person or have atleast known of the screen name for 5+ years and you come to expect certain things from those members.
I think its always a new regime/old regime is the lack of respect between both sides. But I am always a believer in earning your place in a society and alot of the younger people on this forum and out in public arent doing anything to earn the respect that they feel they should be given.
Okay cool lol. I try to give everyone some respect on here, and hope to get the same in return. Many of the older members of the board have given me tons of help various times and I respect that and am thankful for that.
I’m still an 18 y/o kid, I don’t know it all or even claim to know it all. So I don’t expect everyone on here to love me and give me respect.
I don’t wanna go OT on this or start a huge war but could someone randomly PM me or something as to what beck did that was so bad? this was all wayyyyyyy before my time. Just curious.
