Hey guys, I know a few people on here from way back. I used to own a blue 92 TSI AWD and a black 91 before that - My name is Doug by the way. I moved to SoCal 5 years ago and I’m now living in Burlington Vermont. I bought this talon last week (1 week after moving here) thinking I’d have a place to work on it but it fell through. It’s got leather interior in good shape and a sunroof which works and seals fine (drove it 2 hours in the rain last weekend and it did not leak).
The guy I bought it off of had owned it since 2001. In that time he had the engine and tranny swapped out with “JDM” versions. He only put 20,000 miles on the car after the swap. So it did sit quite a bit (he traveled alot with work).
The chassis has 165,000. I have not had time to find out if the engine/tranny are EVO3 or GalantVR4 versions. The turbo is a TDO5H housing. Could be 14b or 16g.
I have receipts from the shop in New Hampshire that performed the swap. The engine runs very strong and the tranny shifts smoother then any DSM I’ve ever driven. They are notoriously notchy.
It’s at a local Chrysler dealer right now getting the transfer case recall done (common with these). They may just replace the whole case even though it’s fine (its just the seal that’s leaking). I’m waiting to hear on that. I’m also having the front passenger CV joint put in. The blinkers/hazards/horn aren’t working. Assuming it’s just a fuse or relay.
The only mods are -
3inch turbo back
Eibach springs up front with KYB AGX’s (not sure what model springs but they are WAY to hard for daily use). I have the stock springs though which I confirmed will work with the AGX’s.
I realize most people on here live around Albany. I’m willing to drive it down for someone who is serious about buying it. I’m asking $1500obo. Need to get rid of it!
Hey, I believe my friend Ryan told me your username on here (when I told him I was interested in buying another DSM.)
If the dealer get’s done with it tomorrow then this weekend is possible. I dont’ want to drive it 3 hours though just for someone to take a test drive. Shoot me a PM to talk more.
I wanted to add that I have the title from the guy I bought the car from but when I registered the car the woman at DMV told me that car’s over 15 years old in Vermont do not need titles. You just need a bill of sale when registering it. I take that to mean I wont’ be receiving one with my name on it? Not sure how this will work when someone buy’s it from me and try’s to register it in NY…
its kind of a pain in the ass…i just went through that a few months ago…and unless u find the owner on the title u better be pretty handy with a pen lol
Yea, I just read that on NY DMV. I sent an email to the DMV here in Vermont to get more info.
There’s 2 other spots for “Ressignment of Ownership” on the title that I got from the guy I bought it from…but I think the name on the front has to match the current registration of the car.
I guess the other option is for whoever buys it to just register the car here in Vermont (no sniffer test here!): http://www.aot.state.vt.us/dmv/FAQ/FAQSRegistration.htm
Q: Does a person have to be a resident of Vermont in order to register a vehicle in Vermont?
A: No
Correcto. The '65 Jag we just bought was never issued a title. Car doesn’t even have a VIN :lol For customs purposes I have to register the vehicle, which now has to be done out of state due the the annoying NYS policies
Is your sister Amanda? If so I was enrolled in ASEP with her back in 2000.
As far as registering your car goes. Why not try Vermont? I haven’t read all the details but you don’t need to be a resident and you don’t have to worry about strict emission laws here. Just need a bill of sale for vehicles older then 15 years here.
