I’m not that sweet at TV’s, but as I am reading it - it does NOT do 1080i then?

if you could clarify for us noobs the max resolution for gaming, that’d be cool.

i’m down with 720p or 1080i or whatever

its not a big enough tv for 1080, resolution is a size. it doesnt mean that the tv will look bad

I understand what resolution is… and not saying it will look bad - just asking if it in fact is only 720p, and not 1080i.

On that note, what is the smallest TV that does 1080i?

All though interested in this TV, but wouldn’t buy until I get my tax return back which will be in a week or so… probably will be sold by then

FUCK TV… goodluck with the sale

any clue on how much a wallmount kit for it would be?

i need some insight regarding this tv~!

ok WHEW hang on

ok… the I in the resolution denotes wether the lines of resolution are drawn interlaced or progressive, interlaced means that every other line is drawn and then the middle lines are filled in. The ONLY technology that can do this type of scanning is a CRT tube set

ALL DLP, lcd, plasma, LCOS, SXRD sets display ONLY a progressive resolution
that is that they draw their picture all at once in bursts

High def is anything that shows over 720lines of resolution on teh screen at any time. So 720P is a HD resolution

ALL lcd tv’s plasmas, and dlp etc before last year were 720p or 768p maximum resolution tvs, they took the 1080i signal and Upconverted it to its native resolution. (a tv always shows its native resolution, or else the picture would be smaller)

so final word

YES the tv is HD,

walmoutn for this tv can behad under 20 bux

yeah, its HD, but not 1080. lol.

but im sure that he just wanted to know if it was HD or not

weird, I thought my sxrd was 1080i? So if it says it does 1080, it is 1080p?

Either way doesn’t have much to do about this thread just am curious - but I am still interested in this TV in a week or so if it is around… the fiance gets pissed with the xbox monopoly of the big screen :stuck_out_tongue:

sxrd is 1080p display, the first gen ones could not nativley display 1080p content

even if u had a box capable of outputing 1080p ud have to downconvert it to 1080i and the tv would upscale it back to 1080p

do u lose quality like that?

not really no, the differance is so small, its mostly marketing

$100

cool… all though since I don’t have enough inputs for all of my various shit hooked up to the tv I have to run it through one of those A/V splitters. I am sure I lose more quality there than I do in the 1080i conversion in the TV.

good info, if this isn’t sold in a week or so I’ll get back to ya

nice TV…i saw it yesterday…good seller

i have a 26 that does 1080i. but these numbers are highly overrated. there is very little difference b/t the channels in 720p and 1080i. the contrast ratio is what will give you a better picture. but IMO the resolution is mainly a marketing thing.

there is NO such thing as a solid state television that Does a TRUE 1080i…

all LCD DLP LCOS etc televisions (anything BESIDES CRT) display their picture the entire thing at once in flashes, they do not DRAW lines of resolution…
