ok WHEW hang on
ok… the I in the resolution denotes wether the lines of resolution are drawn interlaced or progressive, interlaced means that every other line is drawn and then the middle lines are filled in. The ONLY technology that can do this type of scanning is a CRT tube set
ALL DLP, lcd, plasma, LCOS, SXRD sets display ONLY a progressive resolution
that is that they draw their picture all at once in bursts
High def is anything that shows over 720lines of resolution on teh screen at any time. So 720P is a HD resolution
ALL lcd tv’s plasmas, and dlp etc before last year were 720p or 768p maximum resolution tvs, they took the 1080i signal and Upconverted it to its native resolution. (a tv always shows its native resolution, or else the picture would be smaller)
so final word
YES the tv is HD,
