FS: 85 Bimmer 524TD (diesel)

So heres the deal. I bought this car about 3 weeks ago. It needs more work than the seller led me to believe, so therefore I’m selling it. It’s a GREAT fixer upper, with a mint body. The car has 225k miles, and an auto tranny. The interior is a little rough. The carpet is a little dirty, but can be cleaned, the dash is broken in a few places, and the drivers seat is torn. A few dash pieces, and you’d have yourself a pretty sold interior.

The heat works. Power FRONT windows work, while the rears dont. I’ve been told the rear window motors are probably frozen up. Moonroof works, most power seat options work. Heat works, AC does not. Does not have a radio currently, although it does have rear speakers. Comes with a craftsman toolbox in the trunk that came with it when I bought it. It has a light on the dash for brake lining, which leads me to believe the sensors are bad (as told from a few bimmer dudes). The center console by the rearview mirror says coolant and brake light. One brake bulb is out, and the coolant sensor is bad as the coolant is full. I was told to unplug this as it’s useless.

The body is in good condition, the tires are in good condition, but the brakes need work. The brakes hang up. I have a feeling the car will need a full brake job, but after that it should be a mint winter beater. This is the main reason I’m selling it, as I really don’t wanna do brakes. I found a toyota truck that needs nothing for 1500 so I plan on jumping on that.

Asking about 1200. Pretty firm, but no fair offer would really be denied as I know a 1200 dollar car that needs brakes might seem a bit high.

If I had the money, I’d be all over this, because I LOVE diesel.

So save the money

I know a guy who doesn’t need anymore BMWs, but has always wanted one of these.

Feel free to pass it along

I hate to be a dork, but think you could get me a few more pics? I called him tonight and the 2 cars he was planning on purchasing fell through. If you want, you can email them to me: [email=“jjetta8v@excite.com”]jjetta8v@excite.com Where is the car anyway? I see the pic that you already have up is from RIT, so is it in Rochester?

Thanks!

It’s in Rochester, or if you want to get technical it’s in Gates. I can grab more pictures tonight. That one was with my phone, and my camera and the car are at home. It’ll be after 4pm.

drcline2@buffalo.edu too please

Thanks for the response, but the guy interested just got in a whole bunch of trouble today and purchasing a car isn’t in his best interest right now.

I wish my 'rents weren’t so adverse to me bringing another orphan home. This would be perfect for my SVO dream.

From what I have been told, these cars were much smoother and more driveable than the diesel offerings from Mercedes and VW of the same era. Best of luck with the sale!
