Posting this for my Roommate John:
The Car:
What it is:
- 1983 Rabbit GTI
- Full Rally America Logbooked cage
- 2 OMP Record 2 Seats ($700 seats, each)
- M&R Safety SFI rated 6 pt. cam lock belt (good thru June '09) ($250)
- 4-Hella 1000FF lights, mounted to a removable frame ($400)
- 4 Hankook Rally tires with rally rims, about 50 miles on them total (~$100each)
- Terratrip 202+ rally computer ($300)
- Terraphone professional intercom system ($100)
- Quaife LSD (~$850)Those are all the “removable” components. With this comes a full car, with:
- a race motor (1.8L block with a 2.0L ABA head and custom crossflow intake, and pacesetter headers, cherrybomb exhaust, megasquirt fuel injection),
- full underbody protection
- extra set of road tires on 14" teardrop rims
- extra hood,
- a 5 speed close ratio gearbox with a spare
- spare rear beam and suspension
- Bilstein HD’s with Eibach ground control coiloversIf there’s any interest tonight, there’s a full rolling shell with motor and glass, extra suspension components, etc…but that’s getting picked up and hauled away tomorrow morning (4/8/08) early. If someone says something, we can call and halt the haul away.
What it needs:
A new bolt for the pass. side engine mount, and wiring work. The wiring harness needs to be cleaned up…there’s about a harness and a half worth of wire in the car. We were going to clean that up, but we wanted to race instead. The car could use some body work, there’s rust in spots…but come on…it’s a rally car!
Car starts, will run great as soon as the motor mount’s fixed.

The car’s in the West Chili area (rochester). To get in touch with us, PM me, or preferably, Call John @ (585) 506-6226, or email him at johnzima AT gmail.com
There’s about $3500 in parts sitting in this car that we’d prefer to keep together rather than parting it out, plus it’s a fully logbooked and caged (running!) car…This car’s a great deal at $4000. Please make us an offer. The reason this is going out is because John’s moving out of the area, and can’t take it with him.
Thanks!
