I haven’t had the time to spend on this car for a while so it’s been sitting in my driveway neglected for the last year and it really needs to go to a new home. My original intent was to use the car for lapping days and hillclimbs but I never got around to getting the car down to Domination to have a rollbar mounted in the back so it was used every now and then as a daily driver and occasional autocrosser. Since I bought it almost two years ago I’ve only put about 3000 miles on the car.
It was recently state inspected by McB in Bridgeville and is good until March of 2009 (emissions exempt). The car will come with a trunk load of spare parts since I am getting out of racing Hondas and concentrating on my Datsun. I bought the car back on 4-1-06 from a local guy that did all of the original building of it. At the time the car had several issues with it (tranny main shaft bearing bad, automatic seatbelts not working properly among others) which I have since corrected.
Here’s a description of what the previous owner replaced on the car.
New axles that included all 4 CV joints with boots
New bearings on the front and rear
All new belts and hoses within the last 4 years, including the Timing Belt.
Brand-New Alternator
Upgraded to an Si top end (cams, intake, MPFI system)
New head gasket
All new gaskets and seals
Si distributor
New spark plug wires
New spark plugs
Si ECM
Newer Aluminum Radiator
Bosal cat-back exhaust
Thrush Muffler - (cheap but LOUD. Recommend an OEM piece for a daily driver)
New Tociko HP (blue) Shocks and Coils (red) at all for corners
Polyurethane bushings throughout the suspension, sway bars and transmission (Master Kit) New trailing arm bushings (Not included in Master Kit but a must!)
'90 Integra rear trailing arms to facilitate disk brake conversion
Integra rear sway bar added as well
Brand new Rotors Front and Rear
Hawk HP+ Pads (extra set included)
Braided Stainless steel brake lines
Front strut tower brace (Ebay purchase)
Rear Strut Tower Brace (Home made)
Custom K&N style cone air intake
Aftermarket Tachometer (DX does not come with one)
4-point harness for drivers seat, removeable, have 5th point but don’t use
All rusted out areas (rear wheel wells, around taillights, door jambs) have been repaired. Even the bumper support inside the back bumper has been replaced. (They rust out bad!) The work was done by me so it is only good from 20 feet away. The repairs were painted as close as you can get from Pep Boys, but is far from perfect. There are the usual chips, scratches and dings expected of a 15 year old car.
I’ve done some improvements and upgrades to the car since I bought it. I have most receipts for parts and here’s a fairly complete list of what I’ve done to it.
Ebay cold air intake
New rear exhaust section (replaced Cherry Bomb)
Buffed off racing stripes
Replaced seatbelt control box
Transmission checked by Mark at McB, new input shaft bearing and all new seals
New all season 13” tires and added Honda hubcaps
Recent new rear rotors and pads
Both lower ball joints replaced
Battery replaced
New Honda waterpump and thermostat
Replaced one front axle with remanned part
New Honda taillight gaskets to eliminate water leaks
New Honda oil pan, valve cover gaskets and rear main seal
Valve stem seals replaced with Honda parts and new head gasket installed
The car comes with the following spare parts.
Chilton 84-95 Civic, CRX, Del Sol manual
Honda 88 Civic Wagovan master manual
Honda 91 Civic Wagovan electrical trouble shooting guide
New Honda wiperblades (not installed)
Honda valve cover gasket with sparkplug well seals (not installed)
Ziplock bag with numerous misc small engine gaskets
Used OEM Civic steering wheel
Used CRX A/C system (not installed)
New A/C gasket kit for use with above system
All aluminum long hub Momo/Sparco steering wheel adapter
Misc brake pads for front and rear, some Hawks, some new-some used
Used distributor cap, rotor and wires
Used alternator
Used Civic Si dead pedal, not installed
Four used 14” Falken tires-pretty old but with a lot of tread still on them
And…whatever else I have in my garage that fits a Honda Civic
I used to have some 14” alloy rims that went with the car but I’m keeping them to run snow tires on My new Honda Fit.
My receipts total over $800. I know that I’m missing some so it’d be safe to say that I have over $1000 in parts into the car at this point (no receipts for exhaust work, A/C kit, intake, and some other spare parts). Kelly Blue Book says a stock Civic with 106000 miles and in good shape should sell for $1630. Mark and Mike at McB think that the car is worth at least $2000 and that sounds fair to me but I really just want my driveway space back so I’m asking $1900. I have a crazy schedule right now so just PM me your phone number if you’re interested and I’ll call you in the evening.
