Fuel Resistant Grommet and Cable/Wire?

kinda sick of searching for this…

anybody know a place where i can find a fuel resistant grommet for my fuel sending unit? thru-hole will need to be whatever size the cable is, probably around 1/4", and the metal is about 1/16" offhand.

also need a fuel resistant cable that contains 4 wires (i want to say 14ga, possibly a strong 16ga) within that will be going through the grommet. the outer sleeve around the wires needs to be thick and true so it will create a nice seal with the grommet

if anybody can point me in the right direction that would be great, thanks. i only need about 2 ft of this

Not sure what you’re going to find for that little of cabling needed.

I’d probably just make a cable up with 4 wires and some Viton Heatshrink tubing; and find a Viton grommet (I know they make them, I used to use them when I was working in the aerospace field). Viton won’t react with the fuel, nor most other solvents.

I get stuff from them all the time for our CNC’s & robots at work. they have a wide of multi conductor cables with a variety of jacket selections that are chemical resistant.

You can also look to see what type of seal tight connectors they have. Fuel is more of a solvent and will dry out grommets. A good industrial grommet should last for years with no issues. Go down to Volland Electric in the city. They do industrial supplies and should have what you need.

Never had a problem with a regular good grommet, 16 gauge wire. Just don’t use some cheap junk .099 for 10 stuff. And the goop sealer in bad ass for sealing the wires. Here is a nice write up on how to do this, David posted. He bought his pumps from New Era. Install is the same way Mike showed me how do do this at New Era. Having the bench at the shop is so nice for testing this stuff.

I’m not sure if his car went the 8.6 @159 running 2 340s still. I know he said it went 150 at 3800#'s, thats crazy.

Yeah … Gas isnt an issue …

I deal with Garbage Cummins ISC motors … i swap out at least 4 engine harnesses a week due to fuel leaks … Diesel is the real killer

thanks guys,

yea mainly what im looking for is a seal tight way to get my electrical into my 97 tank. dont want fumes, dont want leaks. the oem electrical input only had 3 connections (i need 4), and they were very small at that. not to mention, i used that hole for my fuel outlet.

another option i was looking into is what i think halas was hitting on, another actual seal tight connection to snap in there somewhere.
