Fuel sending unit..

Just wondering if this shop is fucking with me or not I dropped my s13 off 2 days ago they just looked at it today and claim the gas neck filler is really rusted(it is) and the fuel sending unit needs to be replaced. this doesn’t make to much sense to me considering it runs fine it just leaks gas when running, the neck filler doesn’t leak when filling up but its pretty damn corroded. They want $260 for the labor + parts… there is no way in hell im letting them put some shit tastic old sending unit in for rape prices. What do you guys think i should do just pull the car out and replace the sending unit my self?

oh and basically I’m just asking if it could be the sending unit causing the leak I thought it would just be a hose that connects to the pump how could the unit it self be leaking.

the leaking could either be from the 2 lines or the gasket around it to seal it. also, the thread could be stripped and it wont seal properly.
the wires can corrode and it wont work. thats what happened to mine. i had to go out and get a new sending unit. worked fine.
you can also try and jb weld the wires back to the connectors, but its a bitch.

JB WELD FTW

the car runs though and i dont have an electrical problem and who the fuck would use jb weld on a wire have you ghetto diyers never heard of solder? worst advice ever

^Yeah, let’s take a hot electrical soldering iron next to an open fuel tank.

I soldered mine…but once the sending unit was removed from the tank and isolated. lol

stfu. u asked for advice and i gave it. Dont wanna use it, i dont give a shit. its worked before, which is why i said it.

go and solder your shit, and tell me how it works out for ya bud.

lol chill i was just saying the jb weld was a stupid idea and yea obviously you want to pull it from the tank before you solder . is it worth buying a used sending unit? does anyone know what they cost at the dealer"?
