i broke the nozzle on my return line after tryin to attempt on repairing a small leak… something bad turned into something worse… now im forced to buy a new unit and i have no clue how to change it…
like my unit looks rusty in there and dirty i can’t even see my bolt… im afraid it might be siezed in there
someone help me or give me some guidance in this repair… kno any shop or person that can help me… im also on a tight budget…
go and get a new fuel sending unit cover from a scrap yard if they have any mint ones, standard wreckers has one on a red coupe i was there recently, if not, than see if you can get one from someone else, than when you are replacing it, make sure you use a metal wire brush and clean off as much rust as possible brushing (do NOT sand the bolts off… duhh), use a 6 point socket (make sure it fits as tight as possible, i think its 8mm there ? but yeah, if it doesnt go on to one specific bolt, try tapping it on, and when taking it off, make sure the socket is perfectly vertical or you’ll round it, if you do round it, just use pliers and try to get it out, if that doesnt work, the bolts have a phillips slot on top which is probably rusted to shit, if so, go to CT and get a mastecraft rounded screw removal kit, it consists of two special drill bits that work REALLY WELL, i used it on mine, make sure you read the insturction cause you need to do it in 2 steps, oh and if you never changed your fuel pump you might as well do it now (its easy) cause you dont want to have to take out again a few months later, make sure you unplug the fuse for the fuel pump, crank the car a few times so that it releases the pressure, than disconnect the battery, then begin workign on it, try and avoid stuff falling into your gas tank its not cool. good luck
