Gasket Removal

I have a couple of gaskets that are really stuck on. I’ve tried a wire wheel, scrappers and a gasket removing agent. None have of which have helped me make any serious progress. Anyone got some really good tips on how to remove those stubborn gaskets?

razor blades is what most people use and they work. You just need to take your time.

try a small heat application after the gasket remover is absorbed

I will give those a try tomorrow. Anyone else have any other ideas?

this isnt a 1-2-3 project. You need to sit there for 20min with a few fresh razor blades.
Dont gouge the block or head

I’ve spent 3 hours on it so far so I know it won’t happen very quickly.

^ damn. WTF What motor?

wire wheel is a bad idea dont do that again, goto napa they have these rubber wheels that go on the end of a air die grinder they make short work of an gasket ive taken off, just get a soft one and a good high RPM grinder and it will rip it apart but be carefull if its on a soft metal

heres what im talking about there called bristle discs http://www.redhillsupply.com/ppp/images/MMM7544.jpg
