Gauges ???Wich one??wheres the best place to put them!!!

I was wondering whats the most essentials gauge to get (with a turbo engine)

Boost
oil pressure
oil temp …

Well whats the 3 most important, and then the next other 3 :stuck_out_tongue:

egt,a/f(wideband),water temp,water press,volt… so on

What are you guys running, and need some suggestions where to put them(orders and place ,like boost with oil/press)

                                                 Thank you

I was thinking about doing that,is there people here who have this set up ?

wich one is best between those 3 triple pod ???

Though I could put turbo timer/boost controller(greddy) there, instead of those buttons, some people put them where the ashtray is
is there some people with that setup?

(people with tein edfc, and there the greddy boost controller/turbo timer, hks turbo timer, not sure if the a boost controller with the same shape as their turbo timer, but theres the fan controller.)

Somebody change their gauge light to those,I wonder if you can read your instruments well afterward???
And is there a compagny that makes the most gauge (egt,oil/temp/press,water/temp,fuel press, boost…)with that lighting (the color)

Is that the uego wideband everybody talk about, and do you think about the location of the gauge?

Apexi S-afc and the rev speed meter, useful???

Boost so you can show up all your n/a friends  “look mine goes past zero”

Is a boost gauge really necessary if the turbo(t28) is internally waste gated at 7-8 psi(forgot which one)? Wouldn’t I be running at most 7-8 psi?

boost gauge can also let you know if you have vacuum or not, diagnosing turbo related problems is difficult so reading vital signs is essential…I would suggest boost, oil pressure, egt, a/f, oil temp, water temp in that order

Imo I would do this : boost, egt, and oil press on the pillar then have wideband in the middle of the steering wheel, fjo are the common ones you see in that position ( box type with led not the gauge )

You have to get a wideband if you get an AF gauge, the narrowband (Defi, Autometer, eBay, Megan, etc) is just a light show.

this is what i recommend too, though mine are in different locations, i have the first 3 under my deck and the wideband gauge where the left vent was in the center above the HVAC controls. i put them there because i hate the look of pillar mounted gauges.

and yes i put my boost gauge in before my turbo, i am a bad person. a bad person who is always too busy on other cars to work on his own

came up with some places to put them, tell me what you think

Boost/Vacuum-Oil Pressure together in the cluster pod

oil Temperature-Water Temperature-fuel pressure on the pillar

egt-a/f ratio-wideband in the triple pod where the vents are

or put the wideband where the lighter goes and a dual pillar pod
whats best

put pictures of your gauges set up

Here’s an idea, where do you want to put your gauges! It’s like you asking people where you should put furniture in your home. Opinions are great but from all the pics you have showed, i think that should be enough for you to make your own decision.

Put it where it would be easiest for you to see. Or you can get a pillar pod so that everyone can see that you have all those gauges.

well I was wondering wich should go together, wich are the most important to check more often …

I have my wideband mounted in the same spot most people in those pics are running them. Fits nicely and looks clean. SAFC2 is sitting beside it.

Not the greatest pic, but it’s the only interior shot I could find.

That’s what home/interior decorators are for. :o

nice walter

Definatly the Hottest setup there, BY FAR

THe stereo DIN slots also have molded in SAFC II and RSM now.

The best place is where you can see them clearly, visibly and vividly, without having to move or lose concentration for a split half a second or even have to ‘concentrate’ to read it.

So work from there… I believe this has to do with personal preference anyways…

what I like about that one (dip one ) is that its at the same height the cluster is ,so it follow the same line, next thing to think about is loosing the vents, now on a track ok but on dailydriver/weekend track,Im not sure yet,and theres 2 other options, where the climate control is,or on top of the vent, would it be too low(taking too much time to read) or too high, keeping in mind im 6’1,I think in the vent, where the cluster is and c pillar is the best way to go,but still im asking for your comments because you probably have tryed different ways and got more experiences (in your car and ridding in friends cars)

Thank you for your comments :)

maybe door inserts would be good for drifter I dont know !!!

one that stood out to me in all those pics you first posted was the 2 gauges mounted in the drivers door vent.

i dig that. too bad it’s (almost definetely) a one off.

edit: dip, what would you charge to make another one of those center trims with the 3 gauge pods replacing the vents?
