Anyone here taken the GDL test yet? I’m ghetto so I gotta’ do mine which is retarded but whatever…they said it’s gonna’ be an hour and what not so what exactly are you going to do for an hour? Drive to Nisku and back?
Nope, i waiting for them to force me to do mine… and then they can fail me for all my bad habits…
I heard and hour too, but then again they said the drivers exam was 30 min and mine was only 15mins… so who knows…
pardon me on my n000bness, but with is the GDL?
Graduated Licencing
ahh, that’s what I figured it was. How does the alberta licensing work? is it 3 steps? g1, g2, full g?
I did mine a month ago in sherwood park you drive around for about 40 minutes and thats about it, no parking of anykind just driving staightt and following instructions. If you can do that then you can pass.
well, i’ve had my full G for several years now, but since im moving to edmonton in about a week, i was just wondering if it is the same type of deal as we have here in ontario.
dude, hook me up with the place in Sherwood Park that did that, I’m sooo holding you to that
I’ve had my license for about 4 years now (Northwest Territories) and I moved down to Edmonton but haven’t switched licenses yet. . .do i have to do that GDL thingy?
k so i got my GDL last year, at a north edm registry by clareview, and its about an 45 min give or take, and all they do is take you on a driving test, they tell you where to go and what to do and you do it, that it, aslong as you can park and read signs and street lights, you pretty much not going to fail! dont be to agressive eather! i didnt shoulder check once and i was to agressive so i lost points, you get a set # of points for everything you do wrong and if you get more than 75 you fail! but its pretty east, its a basic driving test.
if you fail your special! get a handicap sign!
GDL!?
Whats the purpose of getting one? I can’t see my insurance going any lower than it already is…
if your from ontario they are just going to give you class 5 which is our G in Ontario … which is sweet cause when i moved from Ontario i hadnt gone for my G test cause i kept putting it off and im from Toronto we have to wait for like months for it lol
registeries on wye is the place its on wye road.
alberta has a 3-step licencing.
1.learners 1/year
2.GDL 2/years with no infraction of any sort.
3Full licence.
you have to take GDL if your a new driver, but if you just moving in from a different province then you automatically get a full licence
does anyone know what the restrictions are for GDL(i have one)?
Some of the restrictions are things like 0 blood alcohol level, no driving between midnight and 7 am, no more passengers than seatbelts (which is dumb cuz thats kind of a rule of thumb anyways) and you have less demerits to work with. I don’t remember the details on it though. I’m just glad I got my license right before it came out.
Man when you guys talk about GDL I feel OLD. I had already been driving for 10 years when it came out.
yeah… i’ve been driving for 10 years as of this summer. :o
damn, 11 for me this summer, where has the time gone?? lol
