It sounds like you’ve got some great ideas to have a club better than anything currently in WNY, but I agree that getting your zoning and funding is going to be tough.
Buffalo is about as corrupt a local government as you’ll find anywhere in the country. You’ve got a lot of friends but I’m willing to be they don’t have the connections to push something like this through.
Good luck on the business loan. Established profitable businesses are having trouble finding lending for their revolving lines of credit so I can only imagine how much fun it will be trying to pitch a non-established business plan to a loan officer right now. It’s a gentleman’s club, so automatically you’re talking about an uphill battle with the bank types even in a good economy. You’re pitching them a business model that relies entirely on discretionary income in an economy where people have less and less discretionary income and the few that still have it are putting it in savings.
When the economy turns around it sounds like a good plan though.
Run it out of a shanty basement and all of your problems are solved:snky:… Itl be like a diamond in the rough. You head down a bomb shelter door into elegance and five star cuisine… oh and pretty titties obviously.
Another point, if you don’t serve alcohol, you can do full nude, and you can also open it up to the 18+ crowd and not just 21+. This removes the need for the liquer license, and also gives you a crowd that will be looking for something to do when they go out, but aren’t 21+, haven’t befreinded a bouncer, or got a fake.
Now, you’ll have to find other ways of making money, probably with food/specialty non-alcoholic drinks. Might be able to do a coffee shop type place and have a room that has entertainment and one that doesn’t. Maybe put a couple pool tables and such in it too to pick up that type of crowd.
There is a place here that has a juice bar, and a strip club in the same plaza, one on each end (and a leather store and chinese restaurant in the middle. Rocket Plaza. Look it up). I’ve noticed that the girls there will walk between the venues. Might be an idea cause then you can have the same girls cover both clubs, and they could work whichever is busier for the evening.
I have never seen a single BYOB strip club that wasnt trash(For reference check out Partners strip club in Erie, PA fully nude and BYOB and a few near Dallas)
There’s not enough of a clientele for a “high-end” gentleman’s club in buffalo. Sorry there just isn’t. You don’t get the “people getting off work” most people don’t work in the city anymore. This isn’t Shadow in vegas, there simply isn’t enough money available in the market to support your idea however good of an idea it might be. Sorry.
This doesn’t even begin to touch on the build out costs of such a project. Then the costs of finding talent at the level you’re talking about.
a lot of good things have been mentioned already. price vs volume, i would drink way more beers at a strip club if they weren’t $6 each. that would also make me willing to go to a strip club more often, if I can drink beers without kiling my wallet (i mean the strippers get the money anyway but you get the point).
also, decent girls are the biggest thing. i never go to colony because the girls are so fucking gross
also, the smoking is a split issue. It will drive people away, and it will draw others in. So options for both would be good if possible. Personally, i don’t smoke and hate the smell of it; wouldn’t go to a strip club if it reeked like tobacky
Since I don’t feel like starting a new thread, I’ll post this in here:
Anyone listening to Shade45 last night ~5:15pm… Rude Jude and Lord Sear were on giving advice to a trucker who broke up with his gf. Jude told him to find an ugly stripper and the guy said he couldn’t find any ugly ones. Jude said to go to Rochester, NY to find 'em.
i say dont do a seperate members area. the best way to sell more membership is if the non-members see the members being members. if your standing at the bar getting a drink for $6 and the guy next to you flashes his card and gets the same thing for $4.50, that will make people want to be a member
now if that drink gets you the last point you needed for a free lap dance and the bartender says “sir, you now have enough points for a free lap dance” the $6 beer guy is thinking “i just paid $6 for a beer and he paid 4.50 for a beer AND a dance”
also, i may be wrong on this, but i was told the reason pharos and madams are where they are (the edge of a land fill that had enough pollution in it that it needed to be cleaned up and fenced off) is because it was the only place the town would zone for it.
i met him & his friends at madams one night, they were making it rain for some ugly black stripper that i would have rather seen keep her clothes on
no, its a reference to the desperation of a certian stripper when i was at a strip joint a few months ago. it got to the point that we actualy LEFT the club to avoid her
Strippers are supposed to SELL you lapdances by politely convincing you that they are worth the $ spent.
Strippers are NOT supposed to stomp over to the table for the 5th time in a night, whip out the bitch attitude and say “are you SURE your broke? you should check your wallet, because im only making 10 cent an hour right now”
if you want me to give to charity the same rules apply as gettin me to get a lap dance. sell me on the idea. convince me that its money well spent. show me why you deserve it …
