UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. - A 69-year-old former Marine is being held on $3 million bond, accused of shooting and killing his neighbor after the neighbor’s dog urinated on his lawn.
Neighbors say Charles J. Clements obsessed over his lawn, routinely winning beautification and lawn upkeep awards, but was also known to threaten anyone who dared to set foot on it.
“This man has been like this for probably for 15 years,” the victim’s mother, Patricia Funches, told WGN-TV. “He’s always taunted the children.”
Last Sunday night, Joshua Funches, a 23-year-old father of two, was walking his fox terrier ' Gucci' when the puppy lifted its leg and went on Clements lawn, according to Patricia Funches.
The two men began arguing and Clements pulled out a pistol.
Funches then said to Clements, “Next time you pull out a pistol, why don’t you use it?”, according to Will County State’s Attorney Sondra Denmark.
Clements then allegedly shot and killed Funches.
Funches’ mother said Joshua had two children, ages 1 and 4, with another due to be born in August.
Clement is charged with first and second-degree murder charges.`
It’s really sad, but at the same time the guy asked for it. Not in letting his dog piss on the lawn but by saying to a guy crazy enough to pull a gun on someone over something so trivial that next time he pulls a gun he should use it. If he wasn’t such a cocky prick chances are he would have walked away and been able to call police and really get the last laugh. Now his kids get to grow up without a dad.

I think his children deserve to grow up without a dad. If their dad was civil or had an ounce of brains he’d be home playing with his 39382938 thousand kids, but he isn’t. oppps

Obviously he knew this guy was a nut job about his lawn and a little crazy. He pushed the envelope and then taunted the guy after he had pulled out a gun. He asked for it and he got it. Feel bad for the kids, but that was pretty stupid on his part.
The fight was probably less about the dog, and more about birth control…
Probably figured the guys kids would be tearing up his lawn and collecting his tax dollars.
