So i just got a new-used dell inspiron lappie off ebay, and the guy had reformatted and stuff and never isntalled any drivers.
Sooooo, i’m trying to play WOW and i can’t speak on Ventrilo since I guess I’m missing my microphone drivers…
how the hell do I get them installed/working? I looked up drivers on dell’s site but there wasn’t anything helpful, I go into my control panel and there’s no mic. icon to set up the mic, test it, etc…:bloated:
lookup the motherboard and find out what drivers it needs, go from there
alternate route is don’t be a gigantic fucking nerd and play WOW
the latter is probably your best bet but its your call

I’m told theres a version of my headphones that uses USB and then it will auto detect and set it up…right now im plugging in thru the hphone/mic jacks.

You don’t need drivers for a mic unless it is USB… Your mic uses your soundcard drivers, so if you have working sound (with the correct drivers) you should be able to use your mic… Make sure your mic volume is up in your sound properties and you probably will want to turn on mic boost.

MAybe your mic is muted. Check your sound control panel, most cards mute the mic on default.
nah i checked all that, its definitely a driver-type issue

I always have my mic muted on live, u sure its not that?
lets put it this way
if u open up the volume settings, microphone settings where u can adjust the volume bar or check the box to mute/unmute isn’t even there.
