Fake some letterhead from work, but try to find someone to take it over first, this way you don’t screw the landlord. Worked for me.
I was about to walk into the office to pay my rent when I saw a lady looking for the office. When I asked if she was looking for an appt I told her to check mine out. She loved it and I told her all the crap I’d leave there if she took over the lease. It worked great because then the letter was just backup.
How I got out of my Elmwood apartment lease.
(my landlord was cool shit though)
Me: Hey I am taking a job down in Virginia and will be moving out in 2 months, is that a problem?
Him: Na just remind me in a month so I can show people the apartment so I can get someone in after you move out.
I moved out, and never had a problem, real cool guy. If your landlord isn’t a dick, usually they understand if you give them enough time.
