I had a wicked time.
For those who camped out Friday night. I’m sorry if my buddy woke you up at 5:45am with his seriously loud ass fucking puking.
It was nice to finally meet a lot of you guys. (I was with Intense Motorsports)
the reasoning behind it is completly irrelevent and none of your business what so ever. everyone has been asked to not post any crash pics and ur the only baddie that had to do it. no matter it’ll be deleted soon enough and we’ll all still know your a fuckin schmuk
You are correct, this IS a dictatorship. And that’s really only a bad thing if you cross the line, which you just did.
There are a number of reasons why these images should stay off of the forums… many of which have very serious consequences for the owner of the vehicle and the drifting community as a whole
When the owner is okay with the images being made public he may do so.
Until then we will censor them out as a courtesy to peers and everyone is encouraged to do the same.
This might have been different if you had of posted a group of images and included this one erroneously, however, you knew the owners wishes and you deliberately went against them. We do not need that kind of attitude in this community.
Drifting is a very new sport in Canada. The FIA HATES drifting. They will find any reason they possibly can to have drifting banned. Which is why, we want to keep crash pics/media off the internet.
If you guys really like drifting, please keep crash pics and stupid trick pics (people riding rodeo, people hanging onto the hood of cars, or anything stupid dangerous in general) off the internet.
Yes, we know it happens. The FIA knows it happens. But in this case, it was a street car with no cage and no safety equipment.
Its very simple guys, the internet is a double edged sword. The problem is insurance companies and heads of motorsports lurk on the net.
You’d be surprised how many times I got emails or phone calls about accidents at other people track days this year. Its happened 3 times this season already.
My safety director has got phone calls this season regarding pics on the net (groups that I will not mention) from track events across Ontario and out West regarding basic safety (ie helmets, insurance, etc.).
Not sure if you understand the scope of what will happen but here are my predictions:
Insurance companies get word of whats happening, insurance prices go up = prices of track rental goes up
Tracks stop renting out time to drifters
Large motorsport organizations like FIA (ASN Canada) push the sport off the map
I have a responsibility to keep a good name for Drifting. If it means asking for your support to keep these types of pics off the net then I hope you will understand why.
Just dont want to to be ruined for everyone else. A lot of people have invested a lot of money and time into the sport since 2001 in Canada and I would hate to see it come crashing down.
Also, it would be cool if the track gave out some bright orange vests for the photographers and media guys, and allow them to be out on the track. Sign a waiver or something. I’ve seen guys go out on nelson, but last time on Fabi, they weren’t too cool about it. I might start wearing my footlocker jersey from work. haha.
