Going to Aussie

hey well im leaving for Australia on sunday, going for 5 weeks so im gonna have a lot of time to do a bunch of things and anyone know any good auto related places to hit up? not necessarily to purchase anything. I’ll be in Sydney, and Cairns for a while as well. I seem to remmebere someone going a little while back so ya, post away

Bring us back a few skylines, S15’s a Stagea or two with R34 conversion and a few front clips…oh and a few hot laydees who like it IDB  :o

agreed.

Plus one kangaroo for me. Make sure the pouch is big enough to transport narcotics.

Sydney is pretty good for the auto stuff
I never saw many shops but there are so many shows.

On another note, make sure you go to Byron Bay on the way from sydney to cairns. Best party spot ever. Nothing but backpackers, so all anyone does is smoke drink, surf and party.

Cairns is ok for the parties.
Sydney is insain if you go to the right spots

If you get to melbourn at all make sure you go to Metro. Biggest club in teh southern hemisphere i beleive.

hey RD, cool to hear you’re going to Oz, but five weeks really isn’t that much time in a country that’s almost as big as Canada. I’m assuming you’ll be flying into Sydney…nice city with world class beaches, but that’s all it is…just another city. The drive from Sydney to Cairns non-stop is almost 2 days (approx. 3500 km) so i suggest a cheap flight if you wanna save time.
Also, don’t bother with Melbourne. Approaching the winter months, it can get quite chilly down in the south…you’ll notice all the backpackers heading into tropical northern Queensland (Cairns, pronounced “cans”).
Dip is right, Byron Bay is not to be missed (especially if you’re a hippy at heart).
The best advice i can give you is this: Australia has such a diverse landscape from beaches to desert to rainforest… don’t waste your time and money partying in city nightclubs (you can do that in T.O.). Get out and really “see” Australia for what it is… a natural playground. Only for the hardcore is a place called Cape Tribulation (about an hour north of Cairns and accessable only by 4x4). Unspoiled beaches and fresh waterfalls in the middle of tropical rainforest inhabited only by Aboriginals… who needs nightclubs!
Trust me… take a break from highrise buildings, traffic, pollution and all the bullsh*t distractions of day-to-day living and discover what life is really about.

if you go to cape trib, watch out for jelly fish
there are millions of them and they hurt like a MOFO

even better though is Fraser Island
the beach is hte highway
and there is no enforcement of liquor laws, Lots of fun

ya were landuing in sydney and flying to cairns, not a bad price about 100$ from sudney, oh and Byron Bay is also on the list of things were hitting up. We also plan on flying to new zealand for about a week for some white water rafting. Ill try and check out some events and tracks and take pics but it might be hard, the guys im going with arent car guys whatsoever

dude, no need to fly all the way to New Zealand… the Tully River, about an hour south of Cairns, is THE white water rapids spot. You’ll get harrassed by tons of people selling package deals on rafting and skydiving.
On another note, if you do get down to the Tully area, there’s a small town called Mission Beach… i spent 7 months living and working at the YHA Treehouse Hostel… many backpackers will agree this rainforest/beach community is one of Australia’s best kept secrets.
If you’re keen on getting out to the Great Barrier Reef, (by far the best snorkelling/diving in the world) Mission Beach is the shortest jumping off point.
