Sweet. I’ll bring the beer.
where’s the sail?
You’ll be able to do all watersports except pull a fatty out of the water on a slalom ski. Tubes, wakeboards, kneeboards no problem.
I’ve had double wakeboarders behind mine actually.
UGGHHHH NO NO NO you bring the boat, someone else brings the beer!
PS… watch your ass with beer on the boat. Canada has open container laws so it doesn’t matter that the driver is stone cold sober. The penalties are SEVERE… like lose your boat severe. And the border is a little crazy since there are spots where you can be 100 feet from Grand Island and actually be in Canada.
Canada is nuts with all kinds of marine laws. They stopped my dad’s friend for something when we were out together and they actually had the power to seize his boat, trailer, and the truck he was pulling it with :jawdrop:
Yep, Canada does not fuck around on the water.
I could never get a straight answer about if they consider an empty an “open container” either. I asked two different times when we were stopped for routine safety checks and got nothing but attitude. So, despite not liking to litter, we sink our empties in deep water while still in the US. I feel bad every time I do it but I’m not getting my boat confiscated because some Canadian sea pig finds an empty beer bottle and me with a .01% BAC.
I was stopped once in the lower with a cooler full of beer on the Canadian side and the guy gives me all this attitude and goes, “And where do you think you’ll be drinking that, it’s illegal to be drinking on the boat”. I point to the opposite side of the river and go, “Right over there, where it’s not illegal to be drinking on the boat”. He wasn’t happy but couldn’t do shit.
Fantastic,I’ve always wanted a boat.
Video that inspires me to get a boat, not the t-pain one either:
LOL fucking hilarious. I loved that movie.
nice pickup…we’ve got the 3.0 liter in our ‘87ish 19’ . Looks exactly the same. Its got enough power.
Nice solid boat. Have fun!
Hopefully they go over this stuff in a safety course, because I’m seeing NYS laws that say you don’t need life preservers for anyone over 12 and you don’t need safety equipment like life savers and throw lines and whatnot.
Scratch that. The fun begins on page 22.
JET BOAT > this…
You definitely need life preservers for everyone on board, as well as flares, and a horn, etc…
I’ve pulled and hassled over this SOO many times.
Required:
1 throwable PFD
1 PFD for each person on board. Under 12 must be wearing it.
3 flares, or other combination of visual distress equipment
1 Fire extinguisher
1 anchor, recommended line 4-7 times the depth you’re typicall in.
1 mouth whistle
Navigation lights or a lantern with enough white light to prevent a collision
That’s not bad. Here is the optional equipment they listed:
Additional Suggested Equipment
First Aid Kit Oar/Paddle
Tool Kit Compass
Bilge Pump/Bailer Marine Radio
Boat Hook Spare Parts
A mouth whistle is an acceptable alternative on boats 39 feet long or less.
Lets see why they say boating is expensive. Prices from CME on Hertel:
1 PFD, throw ring - $47
6 PFD, vests - $42
3 Flares - $22
1 Fire Extinguisher - $15
1 Anchor with 4’ chain and 100’ line - $60
1 Mouth Whistle - $7
Total to meet NYS Safety req’s: $193.
It’s got a fire extinguisher, I’m sure I could find a whistle laying around somewhere, and I bet I can find a cheaper throwable PFD. So I could probably knock that down to about $160.
Then I’m still going to want to get a hook/oar combo +$30, 2 bumpers +$20, 3 dock lines for my father-in-law’s dock $40.
So up to $250. That cassette deck head unit has to go, so +$100. And +$50 for a fishing pole and a few lures.
$400 to get started. :awdrifter: Then another hundo for gas, and $7.99 for a case of Genny Lite.
$507.99.
See if Boat Cushions count as throwable PFD…they are fairly cheap.
And they are also nice to sit on and float with a beer in your hand.
