I am looking for a good place around WNY to go hiking for a weekend. Maybe somewhere that we could park at, walk out for a day, set up camp and then walk back the next day. Anyone have ideas of a good place to start.
Another option would be a place that has kayak access.

state land in east otto… never been there but i hurd its nice
Letchworth state park is nice, decent hiking and class 2 rapids for your kayak. You cant set up camp wherever you want though you have to rent a camp site.

Around WNY, I’m not sure if there is enough public land to get out, and really lose yourself from civilization to hike and setup camp.
If someone knows somewhere though, fill me in, as I’d love to do it sometime myself.
looking for the same myself, only i’m planning on taking the mountian bikes
lake george is a fun place to hike. plus they have an amusement park there. the great escape, which has the original comet roller coaster. that thing was fun as shit when i road it. nice smooth fast wooden rollercoaster

Ya I just found some trails that go from Alleghany State Park, up through Springville to like Holland. May do that, its only 25 or 30 miles.

Great place to get away to.
McCarty Hill/Rock City SF is the largest open area I know of. I imagine you could make a good hike by starting at holiday valley and going all the way out to rock city. There are camping areas or just stop anywhere.
The mountain biking is top notch as well

I’ve always liked Farmersville. Olean has some nice areas as well.
watkins glen is nice so is montour falls nice also.
