Got a turbo kit!

Part 1 of Turbo install is now done!!! Got my SAFC II installed, now I just gotta drill a hole and dremel some of my dash apart and I’ll have it mounted how I want it! I also put my storage bin 3 guage pod in as I was in there anyways to run my SAFC wire (though I ended up running the wire differently for the time being cuz I didnt wanna drill shit yet). I need help though… I can’t figure out how to get those damn springs back on the storage bin so when I flip the release it pops up automatically?

Nice dude! It’ll be nice to actually see a local turbo v (I didn’t see Chase’s car when it was put together.) Enjoy the kit, mang!

u really have to take it to a meet I wanna see this in action. That is if I end up going.

It was pretty awsome, and this was at low boost with no tuning.

You installed the SAFC That’s Awesome, Just make sure both of your “Maps” in the SAFC are Zerod out and turned off right now. 8)

whys that^^^^

Yea, I reset everything on the SAFC cuz I didn’t want any of your old settings to be there since mine is sans turbo :p. The SAFC was the part that had me the most worried, so I figured it was prob best to get that one done first and take our sweet ass time on it.

good job on the buy! ignore the pm i juswt sent about the safc cause i guess you figufred it out, it really itsnt that hard if u have the diagrams and a goodperson to solder it. i cant wait to see the finished product though!

hehe, no worries.

I have an update on the kit. We started taking everything off and bought all the shit we’ll need (I hope…) if we forgot stuff we can always pick it up after. But yea, so far in about 4 hrs (started at about 1ish) we have taken the header/exhaust, CAI, alternator, intake manifold is off (with paper towel in any possibly dangerous holes), butterfly valves are off (my screw weren’t loctited… but all screws were accounted for, I’m a lucky bastard! 92,xxx on the engine), oil/coolant is drained, and the old fuel rail has been removed with the new one soldered and ready to go in when we get back at it tomorrow!

Over all it was a very productive day and I’m learning tons of stuff as we go.

Took a couple pics today, will post em when I get back from dinner probs.

um its after dinner and there are no pics

Your wish is my command. There’s more than a couple. You can click the pictures for larger images.

Here’s a couple I took of the exhaust mocked out on the floor for anyone that’s interested in buying it off me. The block blob is my dad, he didn’t wanna be viewed in the picture.

i cant wait to see this thing at a meet this summer :thumb :thumb

how long u think its going to take u?

and ill buy the header if theres no cracks…

Underneath your stock fuel rail (where the 2 bolts are holding it down) There are these black spacers, be careful not to loose them, they ensure your injectors are not too far down in the LIM.

Congrats on your purchase man. Please please please, just make sure you get this thing tuned before having any fun in it. It’s going to be super hard, but it won’t take long to fuck things up if you’re running too fat and you thin out your oil with fuel and then wreck the bearings in your turbo.

Let me know if you need any help. I’ve been running the Powertech kit now for over 2 years and I have a few things I’ve learned in that time and a few areas to check for issues if you come across them. It’s the smallest thing that’ll have you frustrated if you don’t know where to look.

I’m currently running mine at 11.5 psi and aroudn 325 WHP. Not too bad on the stock block. Click my sig line for my best time in Calgary last year.

Look forward to having a blast man.

I don’t think there’s any cracks in the header, once we’re not so busy I’ll take a better look and get some closer pics. I have a few people now asking about my CAI/Exhaust so I’ll post a formal For Sell thread after I’m done with the install.

I’m definately not gonna rip around in it without a tune. That’s most of the reason we decided to get it done now since I have time off for Xmas/New Years instead if trying to get it all done on a long weekend. I’m prob gonna go get it tuned at AFI though I would rather have gone to RCTS (they’re not open until January 8th :frowning: ).

Also, here’s the results of Turbo Kit install Day 2!

We got the oil pans out, tapped, cleaned, siliconed, and buttoned back up (this was a whore trying to get the goddam pans off). The exhaust is setup from exhaust up to flex pipe, turbo manifold is bolted on, new fuel rail is bolted on as is the intake manifold over it.

Here’s a couple pics

Well, after a couple pretty time consuming setbacks yesterday and more than a few temper tantrums… We got back on track today. We did some piping and cutting of the intercooler to get all the plumbing done. We got the turbo/manifold/exhaust/pretty well everything except the radiator and some vacumn hosing done. We did start it quickly though to check for fuel and/or oil leaks, and we had 1 minor fuel leak which was a clamp we forgot to secure. Everything is working fine. Running alil rich just as expected by tomorrow we should be ready for a dyno tune. Woo hoo.

… PICTURES! I WANT PRETTY PICTURES!

Hey Brody, Did you do the JWT Balancer Shaft kit? I am off all day tomorrow, I wan’t really home at all yesterday, I just checked my messages on here anyhow, umm yeah gimme a shout if you need any help still.

No. I completely forgot about the JWT Balancer Shaft Removal goddamit… Woulda been so easy to do since we had it all opened up and shit too.

We prob could get some help if you don’t mind. We’re alil unsure how the Map Bar Sensor hooks up and everything. Doesn’t look like I’m gonna be able to get a dyno tune til mon/tues so we have time to monkey around with it. Just give me a call sometime tomorrow and we’ll figure something out.
