Got bored...so we got boost *pics*

My buddy and i got bored, so we slapped a turbo on his 94 dx, added some arp head studs, & cometic head gasket, and did some basic maintenance ie: drive belts, timing belt, waterpump, radiator, all new gaskets, hoses spark plugs etc etc.

This was basically a budget build for him, and after accumulating a bunch of parts over the past several months, we finally made it happen.

We know its not the best setup in the world, but for what he wanted, it’ll do just fine…It isnt/wasnt meant to be pretty, but it came out pretty good i think. I even had to hack up the bumper to make room for the intercooler, and even that came out decent. lol The car isnt the prettiest, basically a stock 4 door dx…rust and all. going for that sleeper look :snky: lol

Basically a T3 turbo with turbonetics wastegate (6lb spring), ebay charge piping (which was surprisingly nice), garret knock off BOV, 450cc DSM injectors, resistor box, Intercooler, etc etc…this whole build cost him right around $1k. That didnt include my labor
The only other mods the car had before this was exhaust, clutch and shifter.

Right now, we are only waiting on the slim fan he ordered, and the ECU to get done at innovative, then its back to innovative for a street tune. It should make for a fun ride.

It took about 4 long afternoons from start to finish, add in the beer, the cursing, and the f-ing off, and the constant parts runs etc… and realistically it didnt take that long lol. good times.

btw…big  to boardjnky4 for the hookup on some much needed parts to replace the stuff we broke during dissasembly lol. Thanks again!!

Looks like a fun build.
I almost want to do the same with my D15 because I don’t want to pull the engine again…

it was fun…thats basicaly why we did it. just looking forward to it running, just waiting on the ecu

Looking good! How much boost are you planning to run in that stock motor? That IC looks like a overkill for that setup.

if I cant sell my 91 hatch i am doing a HMT setup on it. its pretty gay tho being a auto

red valve cover > * …cool lil project man.

werd. I like the red valve cover…looks hot.

shaved gold valve cover ftw…
:snky:

something tells me your friends name is Joe

and its not the sticker on this ecu sitting next to me

setup looks good, tell your friend not to get greedy with the boost. that bottom end doesnt like when you more than double the stock hp

lol…actually, i am Joe…friend is Jim lol.
The red valve cover is a nice touch, it has the wrinkle finish.
Hes only running 6lbs of boost, no more.
as for the intercooler, yeah, its a bit on the big side, but he got a hell of a deal on it, and couldnt pass it up.

sweet

i gotta 4 door DX i was thinkin about wasting a few bucks on and doing the same…

cool

dose the WG fit under the hood?

yeah it fits…its close though.

nice project
