Great Day at AutoX

We had our 4th points event of the season today, in upwards of 28 degree weather. Great day for R-comp tires, but hard on the cars with all the heat.

Before heading out, I figured I’d try some things for the day.
Last night I noted the positions of the camber plates, then jacked them as far (-) as possible, to see how the “driveway alignment” fared at the track. It certainly made a large difference, as camber always does, and my times today improved over the last few events.

Today was the first full day using my r-comps…I used them at a test & tune earlier in the year, but never really got a feel for them until today. I spent most of the day playing with pressures & suspension settings, and ended up getting the fastest & second fastest times overall for the day…one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Last night, I did a boost leak test, and found a few small leaks to fix. On top of that, the threads on the catch can are destroyed, so they’re leaking…even with teflon tape. I’m also getting a huge mount of boost in my crankcase…combined with all the gas in the oil, I assume I’m getting quite an amount of blow-by. The car did trap 112mph at the 1/4 mile last weekend, so it is making a ton of power…maybe just not as much as it might if it were tuned and not experiencing any blow-by.

But enough stories, here are some video’s.
This first video is my second fastest time of the day, and 2nd fastest overall.

This is a video of my GF driving the 240 in a fun run, she does a 360 toward the end of the video, and the chick that was riding along with her gets excited that they’re “ready to go again” that she knocks the camera down and broke a plastic piece on the lens…lol

I’m still uploading some videos and I’m waiting to see some pictures from the day. I’ll upload some more things as soon as I see any of it.

Nice driving. Car sounds good.

A few more video’s.

My 3rd run, it was a second slower than my 2nd and 4th runs, but the camera angle is pretty sweet.

Here’s the first run of the day. I think it was 2 seconds slower than the fastest run, as it was the first time seeing the course.

FTD

Great job!

I had FTD and 2nd FTD…lol

Abbott came 7th I think.

They are actually BFG R1’s, I wanted the wheels that they came on, so I’ll be using them until they are toast. I only started racing last year, so these are my first set of r-comps.

Being a track tire, they’re not ideal in any sense, but they’re better than the street tires that I’m used to racing on. Some A6’s or V10’s are in the future, maybe next year sometime…

Results.

I misread your post that’s why I edited my first post! Great job again! DSP…maybe you should come down here and join me in DSP!

trung

We had our 5th points event of the season today.
It was quite cold this morning, but it warmed up a bit and the sun came out during the afternoon.

On my first run of the morning, I took a wrong turn out of a “lane change” section, and nailed a cone mid-bumper for my efforts.
I knew that it was going to do some damage, because it held its ground when I hit it instead of flying off to the side or crumpling, it kind of wedged into/under the bumper.
When I got back to the pits, I looked and surely enough, I had broken the C-west front lip. I could actually literally see the triangle cone mark, and the lip had split along one of the edges of the cone mark.

I guess that’s what I get for finally nailing a cone with it. My first two events out with the car, I hit a bunch of cones sideways, but I’ve been clear of all cones for a while now. I guess I was due…lol

Anyway I removed the lip and continued on. By lunchtime, the GF had installed a few new cone marks on the bumper behind the lip. A few more fun facts, the accelerometer in my head unit was logging my acceleration and cornering G’s today. It looks like I pulled 1.45G’s in the corners and 0.87 on acceleration. Looking at the top cornering G production cars in the world, I think 1.45 may have been accomplished with some sideways, because that’s almost supercar territory according to this link a friend of mine sent along.

I didn’t get a lot of good pics today, so I’ll fill the post with some night shots from last night. However, I think the best photo of the day goes to the GF with this drift through one of the gates, up on 3 wheels, steering out through the side window, with a sweet steering angle in the shot. I think that she’s just about to spin here, but it’s a sweet shot nevertheless.

This is how she got there, a friend of mine was trying some panoramics, but they were a little blurred as he was trying to get out of her way. Note that the front lip is now removed in these pics, the front bumper seems sunken back now compared to before.

The standings were similar to the last event, with a small shake-up at the top. At the last event I finished 1st overall, but got bumped to 2nd after the PAX factors were applied. Today I finished first again and got bumped to 3rd after PAX. That’s quite an improvement however over the beginning of the season. For starters, I wasn’t finishing in 1st place at the beginning of the season, but I was also getting bumped further back during the first few events. I think I’m beginning to get the car dialed in better now, and hopefully it will improve further as the season goes on.

Nitrowsb, I know you’ll probably ask, Paul was driving his Civic Si today to get used to the FWD, as he’s renting a race prepped Civic for Targa this year.
He finished 8th today, about 7 seconds behind FTD.

Well, as promised here are a few shots from last night. Taken with the same camera as the AutoX shot, a Nikon D40.

such a nice car

take the front plate holder off lol

I can’t, it looks terrible under there.
The bumper is all cut up and drilled through.
:/:

very nice

My one video of the day. FTD
I shaved almost a second off of this time in a fun run. lol, that’s how it always goes.

got a new backround. Lookin sweet finally seeing this car rip it! keep it up!
