IF it wasnt an issue why is the EPA spending millions to conduct studies on the potential effects this could have?? They use TONS of water in this process and that water has to be trucked back to a site to clean up and thats an expensive process in itself.

YOu mean to tell me a process that could effect our drinking water can be exempt from protection??? If you support that fuck you. The driving factor is making money and thats great because if there is as much gas down there as they say there is, this could really boost our economy in the region and overall since we can be less dependent on others. The risk however needs to be accessed.

Nobody knows for sure what can happen with this… and no they havent been drilling marcellus in this manner for 120 years, this was a recent thing. Especially in our regiion. They dont know what effects this could have. There have always been cases of people getting sick from stuff like this. Just internet search for it… accidents have happened and it only takes one major fuck up to mess up everything.

The “Cheney Loophole” is a federal law. The EPA in Pennsylvania requires pre and post drilling water testing for anyone that has a water source within 1,000 of a well. If something goes wrong, it will be known immediately and documented and the gas company will be forced to correct the situation by whatever means necessary. And no, it would not take one mistake to Yes, people do know what effects this could have. There have been thousands of them drilled in Pennsylvania already. Tens of thousands down in the Barnett Shale. Accidents have happened. In the ONE case in which water was actually contaminated. It only affected 14 houses.
