For a country it’s size Greece has one of the hugest Airforce and Navyin Europe. We have to. We have one enemy and it’s Turkey right next to us. They have tried invading Greece many times and up to now there is still tension between the two and they are still fighting over the island of Cyprus, it’s all political shit. The good thing is that Greece is a part of the European Union so if something ever goes down we have all of Europe backing us up but the bad thing is Turkey is an Ameican allie and they would most likely help them but on the other hand Russia is Greece’s best allie! And they hate the Turks and they would love the chance to beat up on Turkey and USA. Most countries watch the tension between Turkey and Greece ver closely because they know this could triger ww3.
Greece and Turkey are like a ticking time bomb that could go off at any time. Here on the island I’m in (Chios) we are next to Turkey and this island is so well protected it’s not even funny. Every day I see fighterjets in the air and navy ships patroling. I love fighterjets, I could watch them all day. We all hope nothing ever happens, there is no winners in war but Greeks also believe you have to fight for peace. It’s what they have been doing since the begining, it’s what they know how to do best.
My cousin who is a pilot in the airforce (12 years now) was showing me the fighter jets Greece purchased in 2008:
The Eurofighter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcFZcF17GJk
and they will be purchasing these from Russia in 2009, these fighter jets are pure impresive! Even USA wasn’t too happy about Russia selling them to Greece because they know these jets rule the skies! Nothing can manouver like a Sukhoi SU37!
Watch this vid and you will see things that you never thought a fighterjet was able to do! The writing is in Russian at first and then in Greek but it won’t keep you from understanding what is going on, just watch!
