Hopefully someone here can help me. I took my car to the mechanic and got my clutch done, now I got it back and its making a grinding noise. Its like the same kind of noise that a bad throwout bearing would make and it only makes the noise when the clutch is out. When i press it in it goes away. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks Guys
It COULD be something wrong, but I would advise you make sure to break it in very gently (no harsh engagements for a while). If the problem persists for several hundred km’s or so, then look into it (may be a bad part/mech’s error etc).
Good luck.
how’s the clutch? is it grabbing, slipping?
might be a poor install, but i agree, give it some time, break it in and see what happens before trying to diagnose it
it doesn’t slip but it does grab a little high in the peddle. I’m used to driving domestics and this is my first import so i’m not sure where its supposed to grab.
Call the people that installed it right away and tell them you’re having that problem
See what they say, if they tell you to bring it in to check it out then do it, if they say “nah it’s okay, don’t worry about it, it’ll go away” ask for that in writing.
If it blows up and you can prove they fubar’d it then you’ll have a much easier time getting money/work out of them.
Domestic or import … doesn’t matter. I drive both, and the only differences are between mechanical and hydraulic clutches.
Did they do the throwout bearing or did they just do the clutch? Was the flywheel resurfaced? How bad was the last clutch before it was removed?
But yeah, take it right back to them and get them to put it right.
A new clutch, as long as it’s seated properly and installed properly should not make noise when engaged.
sounds like TOB, or inputshaft bearing (the one in the flywheel).
either way, they could probably say that you got a clutch change, if you want that changed you can go in and pay again.
… which sucks, do it yourself, its not that hard.
I lost my garage when i moved that’s the only reason that i let anyone do it in the first place. I know the guy at the garage but after i got my car back i’m beginning to think he’s not as good as he claims. They did the whole clutch kit and he said that there is nothing wrong with it. I’m not sure either but it was making that sound before i took it in as well. The flywheel was resurfaced and the clutch that came out of it as well as the throwout bearing were really bad. I had the clutch done as soon as i bought the car.
I have the same fucking problem i cant figure it out. I dont know if its the input bearing or something to do with the clutch or the throw out bearing…
platinum240…s…x…
well if you figure it out let me know i’m lost… as far as i know all the bearings were done when i took it in.
