Just wondering what the general opinion is on grounding kits.
Do you need a high performance vehicle to use them? Are they worth it on a stock vehicle?
Is it a must-have? Or a good fail-safe mechanism for your eletrical system?

Good for looks, can be done for cheaper if you buy the wire youself at a local audio store or whatever. Does it help? I doubt it.
i have them on both my cars… and i did in fact see a slight differance… very sudtle but you can feel a smoother start and smoother idle…then again my oem grounding wires were so brittle they literally crumbled in my hand… so it cant hurt to refresh your grounds all around anyways!
When performing the big 3 all that is needed is regular audio wire, about 0awg, buying a “kit” seems like a colossal waste of money.
Can you define “big 3?”
Yes, i aswell would like to know which ones to replace…im looking to replace ALL my grounds so where they are located would be very helpful, pics would be even better lol
Yeah as Ed just said… it’s as simple as that…
yes they work its been dyno proven a few times in articals
either way it deff wont hurt even a stock car
Mael
it works… some more then others… if you have an old 240 like 99% of the people here then u can benefit from it. Just buy some cable and terminals from an audio store. East Hamilton radio sells zero gauge cable. Zero is more then likely over kill but it ill do the job and look beefy.
I was bored at work and actually took an oscilloscope to my electrical and connected and disconnected the stock and new cables on my 01 accord and saw significant changes in some of the frequency responses and voltages.
People will argue it but i’ve yet to see anyone prove it could harm the car.
If you are supper crazy take a ground wire and wrap it around every signal wire you possibly have (aka shield it). Then you will be baller in the electrical world
Yep, the definitely work. Any older car has weak grounds, oxidized wire, frayed or even disconnected.
I installed the A’PEXi Super Ground and that was dyno’ed to gain 7whp. I have the BuddyClub Condenser in the Skyline now and you can def feel the difference in smooth power and noise through radio.
If you ground different points, it has different effects: alternator, body, engine etc…affect noise, torque, responsiveness etc…
The BuddyClub condenser made…are you ready for this…over 25whp in a friends R34 which was believed to have bad grounds to start but don’t expect those results.
Any of the vendors able to price one of these Grounding Kits for me please? (PM me if you’d like or reply if you so choose)
what about them ebay groundwires?
upgrading gounds is soooo important to anything in the vehicle that needs power. But dont forget that a lot of new cars are even worse then the old ones. I am not unacustom to seeing over 25ohm + of resistance all over newer vehicles
hey dave, can you send me a pic of where your grounds are setup?
my gtr came with a ground kit on it, and i wanna see if it was done well. you talked about different setups yielding different results.
i don’t recommend buying a voltage stabilizer or a grounding kit personally… go out and by some cable or wire from home depot or something and just pick up some terminals and ur done.
Tips:
Make additional chassis grounds where seen fit
Make ur negative battery connection to chassis as short as possible.
If you want to protect them from corroding then coat them with conformal coat after installation or some sort of dielectric spray paint will do the trick.
Also use a tooth washer when securing the terminal if you can cause it improves the transfer
Until i see a the internals of a voltage stabilizer i will never buy one. So if someone has pics of this please send the link in hope of killing a few myths
If your grounds are producing under 2ohms than you should be fine.
Although, its probably a great addition to your engines health.
I have the FSM and was looking for grounds, is there a list of them or do you have to go through each wiring diagram for the different components??
i used grounds on my Tranny, Dizzy, Chasis, Engine Block, Valve Cover, Headlights, and Alternator, the more the merrier! looks cool too if you wire then and tuck them in the right place…!
lets just say the more the better
and it is Ideal to have less then 1ohm if you were to check any place on the vehicle
