Hi guys! Some of you met my friend Christy, with the 02 GSX-R. Does anyone know how to replace a chain and both sprockets?

remove rear wheel. cut chain with grinder. unbolt rear sprocket. remove front sprocket cover. unbolt front sprocket. reverse to put new sprockets on. install new chain and align/tighten rear wheel. she have a rear stand?
Nah. She doesn’t. She said that she has an idea how to do it, but just doesn’t have all the necessary tools. She was going to take it somewhere, but they want $300! Anyone have a location?
why do they need to be replaced? don george’s on main st in clarence is my dealer of choice.
I have the same bike. Took Joe(b5a4) and I about 3 hours with fooling around to get it done.
Ill lend you the tools needed to do it, you just have to get a chain cutter/rivet tool.
Or if you can wait a week, i can help when I get back from vacation.
you will need a chain tool depending on what kind of masterlink it has
Haynes manual will guide you through any job you have to do on your bike with pictures and step by step instructions.
does she have rear spools on the swingarm? are there places to put spools? if she wants someone to do it for her I’m off on saturday. she can drop it off and I’ll do it. She just has to have spools or a place for spools. My rear stand won’t work otherwise.
I’m out of town for the weekend, but if she needs help during the week I could help her.
Thanks guys for the advice, but she took it to the shop today. She said she didn’t want to wait because they’ll have it done by Tuesday and if she ordered the parts they wouldn’t even arrive until Thursday, but thanks anyways! I might be looking to do this on my bike by the end of the summer if I have any takers!
^^^ You fix your turn signal yet? How about the front forks? I’d worry about those before a chain and sprockets.
Turn signal is done. My dad spent six hours fixing it and installing flush mounts. Lol. Forks will be done next time I go to Roc. I called the shop I took it to and he better fix it for FREE.
