hey guys i need to know by 6 tonight if a gtir t28 will bolt on to replace my t25 on my blacktop s14?? and if its a good idea or what i need to do to make it work because i need a turbo and i wanted to switch to bb anyways
I’m running one on my SR in my S13 without issues… been on since 06.
You will have to tweak the oil/coolant lines slightly since the turbo is bigger they wont perfectly line up like they do on the T25. You will also have to cut the Inlet and Outlet @ the flanges, turn them to the proper angle and re-weld. If you clock the turbo enough you may not have to cut the outlet but the inlet will have to be cut for sure as the studs are in different locations so if you put it on normally it points in the wrong direction.
do u have pics was it labor intensive or pretty easy? do u like it better than t25
if u have an s14 sr it already had a t28
If he already has a S14 SR20 motor, I dont think he would need to clock the flanges.
No pictures but obviously it will require some labor and wont be done with a snap of the figures. Also forgot you will have to tinker with the Wastegate to get it setup and working again. I had to cut the mount where it bolts to the turbo in order to angle it different then re-welded it once it was in the right spot.
No pictures… did it in spring 2006 so its been a while…
True but a GTiR T28 is different from a S14/S15 T28 in the sense thats bigger and isn’t bb.
Sure he will… You do realize that a RWD SR20 is different from a AWD SR20 and there for the turbos will sit in different locations or require different clocking etc in order to get things to line up.
Personally speaking, I have an SR20 already yet I still had to clock my turbo.
i just recently clocked my gtir t28 and it was a PITA. the damn exhaust side did not turn whats so ever. but i soaked the shit out of it with wd-40 and hammered it like crazy and finally it free’d. Other then that, like Jedi_Car_Fan said u have to be patient because its not going to happen overnight unless you have a welder at home. But i will be installing mine on my ka-t soon, hopefully this weekend and ill try to snap a couple shots for you.
Good luck
thanks boys as soon as i got it home i figured it out and spun the compresser wheel so it lined up nice but im still gonna have to modify the turbo inlet probobly cut the flange off and weld it in the right spot, but i see what u mean with the wastegate i had to move the brackets araound a little and im deff gonna need to throw somthing together for the wastegate tho because its totally different
thanks for the help guys ill try and post pics if anybody needs them
GTiR turbo will require non BB lines, like the ones off a T25…
braided reccommended
im just going to take all the hardware off my t25
just made a costom bracket for the waste gate and it wasnt to hard and im gonna try and weld the inlet up 2marro the only thing that worries me is that the piping feels like really soft aluminum and i dont want to burn it up with too much heat has anybody on the forum welded this stuff before i have a tig but i havent really used it i mostly just mig or arc. if anybody can fill me in on how much of a pain in the ass this is gonna be or should i just make my own out of steel?? and im gonna try and figure out how to post some pics to show what i did with the wastegate just incase somebodys trying the same thing
ya if you have pics post them up cause im gonna do the same thing over the weekend, i know how im gonna make the wastegate bracket but ill see how you did it, your way might be better
