gtp>m roadster

so i was heading out to my grandfathers with my little sister when i caught a redlight w/ a very nice looking red bmw m roadster. some young looking guy in the drivers seat so i figure he might wanna run. we both take off kinda heavy and around 25 i get on it and instantly pull about 1 1/2 to 2 cars on him. only ran it up to 60 cuz i don’t like doing stupid things in my car with anyone else in it. i have a feeling he wasn’t trying very much though. after i let off he did a ricer flyby and just kept going. just wondering if it was anyone on here.

 lil buddy

He likely didnt know you were racing.

Haha, as I was reading I kind of thinking the same thing. No offense, just a thought.

eh, it was prob legit, those things arent that fast, i killed one with my 14 sec 3.8

they are slow.

The Z3 M was slow until 01. After that, the M roadsters/coupes are 315hp (the Z4s might have been bumped to 325 or 333, but still an S54). Shouldn’t be exactly slow in that chassis.

The S50-based ones weren’t that quick though. 240hp E36 M3 engine…

Thats the problem I get…people dont try till I pull on them, they floor it, and never recover. Then they either do a fly by or we get another light…and usually still lose. usually.

gtp’s can be fast, I wouldnt be suprised if he stomped it

Can be, but certainly not the norm.

The roadster he probably raced is a 14 second car. Not really something to be afraid of.

13.6 for the non S52 M Roadster, if the driver is on the mark.

Yeah, that’s really not fast at all.

Edit- pretty sure road and track hit 14 flat numerous times with one.

Fast, nope, not all. Decently quick for a street car, and they move really well on the highway, but it’s german so that’s to be expected. My original “didnt know he was racing” comment wasnt really a discussion of speed but more of I dont pay attention to anything that looks like a Grand Am/GTP, unless I know Studderin is hanging around. One could launch off the line next to me and I wouldnt think twice about it other than maybe cruising past him at a high rate of speed. So I’m not surprised at this story.

+1

Maybe it was a Z3 (1.9-liter dual-cam 4-cylinder engine produced 138 horsepower)
