Gtp Turboed?

So i have been looking on clubgp at all these guys running turbo,s and putting out 400 whp with simple mods and a turbo kit,some even run s/c,s and turbo,s? how is that possible? Ur thoughts on a 3.8 turbo in a gtp or gt.

i have never heard good things about dual setups… i know in the VW world its pretty common to take the G60 engine and turbo it…thats what was in my corrado. the turbo definitely puts down more power, and can be made to run right with the supporting parts.

i’d say go for it if you want serious power that a charger might not be able to give you

doesn’t intense racing have a turbo’d gtp. think it runs 10’s or something like that. So it can be done.

ye sthey do,alot of people are running just a basic turbo kit on n/a grand prixs and hitting 400 whp!! A few have done turbo n s/c,s in theres,i can,t find enough info about it. Turbo for top end,s/c for bottom :dunno: :beer: :beer:

would the old TGP setup work at all on it? might be able to get one in a junkyard or something

use the s/c block
-its already set up for boost-crank, bearings,heads, rods ect

i heard if u use a centrifugal supercharger you could hit 10’s with ur car!!! CSC with there stage 4 can produce nearly 500FlywheelHP

i dont think a 3.4 manifold will work on a 3.8

well a TGP wasn’t a 3.4 it was a 3.1, and the manifolds did matter, it was just a normal stock 3.1 mani’ that had turbo written on it.

that setup would work, but won’t give u much, it doesn’t flow enough boost to be effective on a 3.8

Intense 1998 GTP turbo’d currently runs very low 10’s and put down over 670 WHP it will go 9’s easy as soon as they can get a tranny to stay together long enough, Ed morard currently has the fastest bonny (FWD) running mid/low 10’s with a M112 setup instead of the stock m90 supercharger

most people are runnin turbo’s cause u can hit 11’s extremely easy and alot cheaper then going with a supercharger setup. full kit(turbo/injectors/PCM/exhaust/pipe/everything) u can get for about $3000

i made a kit i might put on this summer for a lil less then $2000, Garrette T-4 turbo(can’t remember specs off hand) intercooler(front mount) and 42.5lb injectors, new Y-pipe, already have a 3in DP, and a camaro 3.8L plenum
